When do you guys think the Jets will get smart and put Leon back to return punts again? While decent, he isn't really a homerun threat like Leon could be.

Leon sucks at returning punts, and always has.

Leon was never a great PR guy, and you know what, Leonhard has impressed me as a return guy 13.8 yards per return? thats devastating imo. Yes he seems to fair catch a few he could run back, but I would rather him fair catch anything he thinks might put him in trouble, than not fair catch a ball and get blasted causing a fumble....

he can't always take one to the house. He had some big returns in the patriots game and titans game. He's been doing fine

nice title. i was gonna say something about this. It seems to me that if theres ever a defender atleast 10 yards from him before making the catch he always raises his hand. Kinda annoying but atleast he's not going all Ryan Mouton on us. I like him as a pr just needs to be a bit more aware

Leon makes Santana "I love the sideline" Moss seem like an okay punt returner.

You cannot seriously be questioning Leonhard's punt return abilities? He had a man in his face against the Saints on every punt. Give some credit to the great hang time their punter was getting. He DID have ONE punt during the Titans game that he should have returned, but other than that, I find no fault with the guy. How many punts has he muffed? Zero from what I remember. Half of the guys in the NFL have a problem even catching the ball, let alone returning it.

I haven't seen Leohnard fair catch something that I felt he shouldn't have. IMO, he has a great feel for when to fair catch and when not to, and when he gets to run with it he does very good things.

Leonhard is averaging 15.7 yards per PR, Leon's career PR average is 9.4. Leon is a great KR, mediocre PR. Jim does tend to play it safe but i'd rather he does that than take silly chances.

Leonhard is doing a fine job as a PR. It's much better that we have a safety back there than a tailback.

I think the kool aid is keeping you from remembering the ammount of fair catches Leon had. He was more likely to do it then Leonhard has been.

Leon took one punt yesterday if my memory serves me right. Leonard was involved in the play prior to it. I assumed it was because Leon was fresh at that point. It was near the beginning of the game.

Leonhard has looked great returning punts so far. As everyone has said, there are a few that look returnable but I trust his judgment on whether he thinks he can get yards on a return. As long as he keeps catching the ball I am happy.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the play the Leon chose to throw a flying elbow into a the neck of a Saints player and luckily didn't get called.

there was one punt that he fair catched (caught?-haha) at the 9. While not guaranteed, it is very likely that he could've given the Jets another 11 yards of starting field position by letting it bounce and fall into the endzone. Stuff like that should come with instincts.
