Yeah, very bad game for D'Brick. I agree that he a good, maybe even a Pro Bowl caliber LT but at this point, I'm not sure that he has lived up to his draft status. Definitely not as dominant as Pace, Ogden, Boselli and many other LT's who have been top 5 picks. Still, can't second-guess that draft pick too much because he's worked out much better than Bush, Young and Leinart.
Brick should yell something to Sanchez when he whiffs on the blindside. How about: "Pardon me, boss. Please release the ball with great alacrity for I have whiffled my assignment." "Fire" also works. What about: "DOH!"
Sh1t happens, that sack / fumble / TD recovery is all on Sanchez. You simply cannot hang on to the ball that long in your own end zone... You have to have an internal clock in that area of the field.
Other than the early whiff this year I have to say D'Brick has been Very Solid. He Shut down Freeney yesterday and held the Underdog Spin Move in check... The 2 no Blocks were not his fault. Can he still improve? Absolutely. I think his run blocking needs some improvement and the JETS know this but other than that....nice job this year.
Ryan, after the game, said the two that got away had nothing to do with dbrick but were the Jets alignment and pick ups on those plays. Dbricks job was to pinch the tackle. If you watch the play again...db and Faneca picked up seperate guys..so regardless...someone was coming in untouched...and Ryan said "those two line calls will never be in the playbook again. My problem with that is...Sanchez should have picked up on the fact that someone was not accounted for..and more importantly...Mangold Faneca and Dbrick should have realized there was a problem...but they do not have the power to call a timeout. The Jets left no running backs in to block.
He deserves it. I'm still sticking by original say that he was a "project". I think was right. But this is one project that worked out as good as you can ask... Shit, Actually, Brandon Moore is even a Bigger project and look @ that MF'er slap cats up..
hahaha he was a project, but the good part was he has gotten better each and every year he's played. Now he's an elite pass blocker.
and that's why I'm proud. You can actually see the guy getting better every year. When was the last time you heard of an Elite DE getting to our QB? ...Other than Shotty's indy debacle.
When you pick a project player that high you should expect bumps in the road during his development which requires patience. Right now, that patience has payed off with an elite pass blocker on the weakside. I love me some D'Brick!
Wow, I re-watched the game and must say that D'Brick absolutely OWNED the Golden mullet last night... 1v1 almost all night... Very Impressive! And Kudos to the O-line as a whole, they looked excellent vs a scary front 4...
Congrats to D'Brick!!! The man has become noticed @ LT and has become dependable and one of the best @ his position....
Good bump Royal. I have to give major props to KurttheJetsFan, Kurt was always behind DBrick from Day 1 and never wavered.
But he isn't good against power rushers, he can't run block and he is a bust.............. Lets go bump some Revis and Mangold threads............
