That's what is so great about sports guys I mean really. Think about it you play so as to win the game. They didn't go out there to just play. When you guys tell me it doesn't matter then it's just time to retire the discussion
And then 3rd and 2 later in the game he has only one wide receiver. How about on both plays you have a balanced formation so the defense actually has to GUESS whether you are going to run or pass.
Oh horseshit. He called the game fine today, it's just that a few guys on the field didn't execute. I didn't see yuo bitching about anything before, and Shotty didn't do anything different today. He is one of the better OC's in the league today, and teh Jets losing today doesn't change that.
It's not like we were going to go undefeated, so this wasn't all that surprising. That being said, Schotty did make some piss poor calls today. Especially the drives in the 3rd quarter when the defense was keeping us alive. No reason to stop running the ball when you're getting 3-4 yards a carry. Third and one in the shotgun, another horrible call. Way too many quick slants thrown while the Saints were in man coverage. Then running a delayed hand off on 3rd and 2. Also, Sanchez played like a rookie today. He was bound to have this game, and I'm happy it was against a non-conference than something that counts. He didn't pick up on any DB blitzes, and Schotty should have compensated for the fact that he wasn't reading their blitzes. There were 5 or 6 blitzes in the 2nd half that had more than one receiver WIDE open, but Sanchez wasn't finding the open guy quick enough. Bottom line, they played like shit, and the play calling was shit. Also, the line played subpar today. Not the end of the world. The defense played awesome, and we were 3 starters short.
He had some awful calls on third and short when he put the ball in the air, both on slants. The Saints corners started cheating in on the slant on 3rd and short for the rest of the game. Gotta mix it up Schotty. I'm not enamored with Schott and don't think losing him will be a blow to this team whenever it inevitably happens.
schotty was getting quite aggressive on the 1st drive....after the pick6 he knew Dirty was shaky and went conservative...plus i thought pass protection SUCKED..3 step drops all we could do today
Schotty made a few bad playcalls but it was Sanchez who threw that first interception and caused a fumble deep in our territory.
i blame schotty and rex...i think they both got caught up into the sanchez hype and put 2 much on the rookies' shoulders. run run run until something pops. more leon less tj! pass on 3rd when necessary. we r gonna have to win by pinning teams back on their end of the field by punting and letting the dfense holdem down. the d did everything they could, every year the 0 lets us down.
I've barely been posting this year but I've pretty much had a problem with him since he's been here. Against the Titans and the Pats the defense had to make 5 or 6 "game ending" stops late in the 4th quarter because the Jets offense would go 3 and out with 2 shitty runs and a poorly designed pass play every time they forced a punt. Which is what we saw for the majority of the 2nd half today. Of course it was even worse because the Jets were losing.
The biggest problem I had was the pass from our end zone. I can't blame Sanchez for not taking a safety instead of fumbling for a TD. Either way he shouldn't have been dropping back to pass from our own end zone. Hand it off three times and worst case scenario play the field position game. There was no excuse for that call.
I Thought he's been better this season but today he was off. Then again how much can we blame him when we have a rookie QB who made a shit load of mistakes ?
I've had mixed feelings about Schotty. I really liked him in 2006 and what he did with chad and playing to his strengths, the motions etc. 2007 you couldn't really make an assessment because the line was awful and chad got hurt. He absolutely SUCKED last year especially towards the end of the season and at the time i honestly could care less if he came back this year. Under utilizing leon, all the empty backfield plays last season, abandoning the run despite having the best rushing attack in the AFC etc. This year i think he's been pretty good for the most part, to my surprise. I definitely liked his play calling the first 2 games especially and he did a good enough job against TE. That said, he SUCKED today. Completely predictable and horrible calls on 3rd down. Yes sanchez fucked up royally, yes the o line sucked, and yes the WR's dropped balls but the play calling contributed to these things. Maybe you can make a case the early turnovers and deficit changed the mindset but there were just too many head scratchers. collectively the offense sucked but we should have ran the ball way more, as we were having pretty good success for the most part. You think with the pass protection being horrible, the run blocking being decent and with sanchez struggling we would have leaned on it more but no...schotty always trying to outsmart himself.
That's sort of how I feel... I look at this game as Schott getting outcoached by one of the better defensive coordinators in recent memory. It's sorta like Baltimore, look at how good their offense is with Cam Cameron as their OC. It's like night and day.
? I'm sorry, but the strength of this teams offense remains the running game.. Jones started to get it going and Washinton was totally under-utilized.. If you had taken the ball out of Sanchez's hands early we would not have have been playing from behind. We not only abandoned our strength, but played directly into their defensive strength which is pass rush / secondary.. The Saints are the type of team who is going to lose to a team who physically beats them up on defense.. A team who is not scared to after two 4 yard rushes on first and second down, to try a 3rd rush on 3rd down.. I'd say go with the seminole in those situations, their front seven IMO could not have held us back running all game.. You saw Thomas break one, and when you keep pounding a smaller front seven those are the types of runs that will open up.. Feed TJ, more importantly: feed Leon more often and stop trying to throw to inexperienced WRs with an inexperienced QB forcing the ball.. This game COULD have been won with a smash-mouth style gameplan, instead we put the ball in an inexperienced rookies hands on the road way to early and put ourself in a hole we never dug out of.. LEARN YOU'RE LESSON, WE NEED THE RUN... I know Scotty wants to be cute and make a name for himself, but another gameplay that defies logic and the new york media is going to let Schotty have it.
Never been a fan of Shotty because his mentality is finesse and cute not execute and kill which is our Defensive personality. However if Sanchez doesn't melt down on the pass to Keller in the endzone and hold the ball forever in his own endzone we probably have a great shot to win this game. If we got out of the Sharper INT with a FG it's a different game.
