First, I live in Columbus and I've seen Schlegel play an awful lot and he's a very good linebacker. Schlegel hasn't gotten the props Hawk and Carpenter have, but he's a terrific player in his own right. I compare Schlegal to McCargo on NC ST, now with Buffalo. McCargo played with MW and Lawson on the same line......just as Schlegal played with Carpenter & Hawk in the same LB group. Both McCargo & Schlegel did all the dirty work and their Teammates got the press. Schlegal and McCargo are both great kids...very smart and great character that were leaders on their teams. Here's the article....a good read! Buckeye Mag called "Bucknuts" !!! http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/479434.html
I hope he is great as well - but read articles touting their own college players (remember this article is written from a fanatic OSU fan - "bucknuts") with some caution. I would much more trust an article written by lets say a Wolverines/Trojans/Longhorns website (saying this guy killed us) or a non-biased source (ESPN/SI/etc). Schlaegel sort of ryhmes with Vraebel - coincidence?
Hmmm good read. I wonder if Mangold was pleased when he found out he had been drafted to the same team as Schlegel. A few more headaches for Nick...
Those who so emphatically think he was a dumb pick and a great reach....may they eat crow year after year, when he becomes the unheralded hero of the NYJ LB core with the heart of Bruschi and the work ethic to be a winner.
