The consensus on this board is this will be a very tough game and if we even have a chance it will be close. I'm not saing I think this will be an easy win, the Saints seem to be a good team. However this game isn't as important as the miami game coming up after this. I'm fearful we will kill ourselves trying to win this one and be worn out and injured for Miami. Why I think Miami is a tougher game: 1. We have proven ourselves agains the pass, but the Fins are VERY effective on the ground. Our D could stop the run last ear, but not sure how they will do this year. 2. The Fins have been allowing their opponents few chances on offense. Peyton Manning won that Colts game with less than a quarter time on the field. I just don't see our offense winning if they hold the ball that much less. 3. Its easy to think the fins are weakened without Chad, but that offense didn't really rely on him for its production. 4. The letdown / wear down factor after the "big" game tomorrow. 5. We will likely have Pace, Stricland and Sheppard back against the finns, but none of them will have had enough practice. that worries me. 6. The fins could be 0-4 and very hungry for a win. Anyway, probably not a great post since everone is getting pumped for tomorrows game. I just wanted to point out that if you think we will sureley lose this week and surely win next week, there are some reasons you could be wrong.
We stopped Slaton, Patsie Running game, and held Johnson to 97 yards and no TD's. Pretty damn good if you ask me..... Miami does suck, especially with Chad Noodleton out.
Miami is very one dimensional. Rex will take away the run and force them to try and beat us with the pass. The Colts defense against them was completely retarded. They never adjusted to the wildcunt and were giving receivers a 7 yard cushion on the outside every passing situation. The only thing that worries me about Miami on offense is that maybe they've been saving some Pat White wildcat packages where he passes the ball for Rex's defense. His scheme crushed it twice last year but that was without a legit pass threat out of it. I'm really not all that worried about this either. It would be pretty weird to not show any of that until week 5 when they're losing every week. Yes they can run, but I'm sure Rex will make them pass. The Saints are clearly a much more talented and balanced team. The game is obviously less important given it's an NFC opponent. As for your concern about a letdown, wear down, I don't worry about this with Rex in control. He has had them firing on all cylinders for each game so far. Remember last week was supposed to be a "letdown"?
Sid Rosenberg in Miami Love to hear from all the Jet fans on Sid's midday show on 560 WQAM in Miami. Sid is actually the postgame show host (along with former Giant qb Danny Kanell) for the Dolphins as well. His show airs weekdays from 10am-2pm. Sid still gets all the big national and New York guests and will have Joe Benigno (WFAN) on his show on Monday the 12th at 1:30 (Game Day). The call in is 305-567-0560. Have fun calling in and trashing the Fish!
ah, the insecurity of fans. yes, the team is going to wear itself out and inure itself trying to win the game ahead of them. they should certainly not play tomorrow to their fullest trying to win and try to save themselves for the next week. that is certainly the smart thing to do.
Wow..next it will be Buffalo..does it ever end? Just to make you feel better though, I can pretty much guarantee that we won't go 19-0..ok?
This is probably the worst post ever. Your general knowledge in football is actually the only thing that worries me. So, I'll make this fast and easy. 1. We've been pretty damn good defending the run. 2. The Colts/Dolphins game wasn't about their D giving Peyton little time to work with or possession. It was Manning taking so little time scoring that they didn't need all that time of possession. Which means, they D is horrible. 3. As some would say, "Chad led the fishies to their Division title", so I have to believe he was their best and only option to run this team. 4. If we beat the Saints, we'll be riding the momentum we picked up since the Pats/Titans game into Goldfish Stadium... 5. ...with our entire STARTING defensive unit back as a whole. Yes. Pace, Shep and Strickland will all be back, making our D even better. 6. The fins will be an 0-4 DEFEATED team if they get beaten terribly by the Bills. If you need to worry...worry about this game coming up. Don't worry about the fish. Fuck the Fish.
Really? I'm not worried about either one. I'm looking forward to a competitive game tomorrow, but after the announcement of Strickland and Sheppard sitting out, I'm leaning towards a loss in the game. However, it would be one loss and out of conference. After that, I think we beat the crap out of the Fins. Not sure why I should be concerned about either game.
Gosh, how many points are you wrong on? I have to nominate this thread for the "Worst thread of the year award". Here's why: 1. Titans are far better running team than the Phins. That didn't work out too well for them did it? We hold a top 10 run D and would have been a top 3 if Titans didn't run in passing situations while we defended the deep pass 2. How do u come up with that conclusion? If we hold the ball for a less time, doesn't that mean the total possessions of the game are less and that both teams will get equal number of possessions, barring on sides kicks? 3. Yeah they did. Maybe not as much, but every team has to get passing help. Jets run the most in the NFL and even in that case we pass almost half the time (47%). 4. Let down/wear down factor? WTF is that? 5. So getting two starters back and sitting the backups makes u a weaker team? Should we rather play the backups then? They play football, not darts! 6. So being 0-4 makes u hungrier? The 0-3 Titans weren't much of a match up and neither were the 0-16 Lions for any other team. Wrong again on the highlighted part. Its a terrible post BECAUSE of itself, not because we are pumped up for the Saints game. So you make 6 points, and you were wrong on 7 of them...wow, is that even possible? FAIL
With a nicked up secondary. In the Rain. Against a team with a better running attack. Just thought I'd add that to your thought, nyjets624.
