I like Francessa. But -- if you have listened to him for 20 years -- youll know that he never is really excited about the jets (and mets). Hes a Yankee/Giant guy -- and thats life. To be fair -- regarding Sanchez -- to quote Parcells, "Let's not put him in Canton yet." I am not a darksider -- maybe more like a partly sunnyshiner -- but this game my have told more about the Texans.
And what does this game say about the Texans exactly? It's game one for both teams. Sanchez played well, Schaub....not so much. But could it be that perhaps the reason the Texans played so poorly was the Jets honest-to-god-for-real-this-time IMPROVED Defense? Give some credit where it's due, stevie.
You are right. Defense -- awesome. Sanchez -- Great. It just may be that the Texans -- may not be that good. We will find out. They have signed on with Schaub -- and it may turn out that he is not the guy. They certainly have other weapons. I actually had (have) 9-7, 10-6 hopes for this season. As we know, Jets were not that bad last year. The coach/QB went into the tank -- when one more win would have gotten them into playoffs. This is not a Detroit/Oakland/Tampa rebuild job.
A lot of people forget this. It's rare that a high pick rookie QB can step in and get the kind of time Sanchez got yesterday, plus have the AFC's leading rusher to hand off to along with another Pro Bowler in the backfield. Usually they have to run for their lives and get their asses kicked for a year or two while the rest of the team gets built, not in this case.
The thing with Francessa is that he doesn't have real opinions of his own, he just tries to piss people off. The formula worked alright when he had Mad Dog to banter with, now it's just hours of him drinking coke and bitching. Anyone who's listened to his Yankees talk recently ("Phil UUUUghes is a stahting pitchaah!!!") knows what I'm talking about. Don't give him the benefit of your business.
Huh? Nah, I only watch Mike'd up cause it's on after the news late night. I don't do the wfan nonsense... and about thte Yankees he said that the Derek Jeter hit record is a made up record and was blown OOP! I said wow , really? He's #1 in hits on the greatest team in sports history and it's blown OOP? He really is full of himself. But last night he seemed more like he never said anything bad and was shocked into belief so all he did was give props all night...
Today Tank said he gives Revis very little credit for Andre Johnson being invisible. He says Shaub has no chance to look down field because of the blitzes. Typical Tank! He never gives Revis any credit. So judging by Francesa's observations we should trade Revis for a 1st rounder and go with me as the #1 CB!
Lol, come on now. A bit of an exaggeration, I think. He wasn't saying Revis deserved no credit. When a caller said that Revis really shut down A.Johnson, Mike replied that he thought all the constant pressure on Schaub had more of an impact on Johnson being neutralized, which isn't wrong, IMO.
Sanchez rocked on 3rd downs, that's all he proved. I like that, he seems his best when the pressure is on. I know he will lose us a game this year, it happens. This week his moxie on 3rd downs won us this game. (That and the D)
Hey, I was one of those Clemens fans, I still am. I still think Clemens has never been given a fair shot with the Jets and next year when he moves on he may surprise a few Jets fans. Yet, if Sanchez has not proven to anyone that he truely deserves to be starting, well, you need to take the blinders off! I was totally against the pick and thought the Jets had shot themselves in the foot one more time. When the pick was made I thought the kid would never beat out Clemens or he would never be ready... Well after the preseaon especially the last two games against the Raven's and Philly, the kid proved to me he has what it takes to be the starter. So after a large helping of humble pie with a heaping topping of crow I will tell you all I was dead wrong, the kid looks to be the real deal. That does not mean I think he will not make mistakes and look bad at times, I know he will. Yet, he has shown enough up to this point to know he is the future and will be the face of the NYJets for years to come. I am happy to have Kellen backing up and dispite what you may think of the man skills he has been a class act thru this whole process. I think he if wished to leave next year the Jets should grant his unconditional release so he might have a chance to start somewhere, If he is content with remaining the number 2 then that would be good also. I do like Angie moving forward and would be happy with him as the Backup next season if Kellen moves on.. Yet, Mark Sanchez has shown me why the Jets chose with there first pick and why so many experts think in the end he will be a star on this level and I gotta tell you, this time I feel we got the Marino pick.........
Watching Mike'd Up right now and he says "this game really turned on the turnovers" Well no shit mike! Is that what you get paid buku bux for? Says the JETS escaped and that Tennessee would have one the game if not for that 1 turnover... but check this out, He did show an incredible statline: Kerry Collins before the score was 21-17 15/26 for 170yds 1-TD 1-Int after 21-17 0/11 0yds and 1-Int That's what turning up the heat means boyz!!
