Okay, now that we've seen what these boys can do on the field when it counts, let's do some predictin'. After this kind of dominant effort, against a very decent Texans team, what can we predict the Jets final record will be? Also, will the team end up playing in 2010? (aside from the Week 17 game against Cincy) Remember, this is what the schedule looks like: New England Tennessee @ New Orleans @ Miami (Monday Night Football) Buffalo @ Oakland Miami Jacksonville @ New England Carolina @ Buffalo (Thursday, in Canada) @ Tampa Bay Atlanta @ Indianapolis Cincinnati
@ Houston W New England L Tennessee W @ New Orleans W @ Miami (Monday Night Football) W Buffalo L @ Oakland W Miami W Jacksonville W @ New England W Carolina W @ Buffalo (Thursday, in Canada) W @ Tampa Bay W Atlanta L @ Indianapolis W Cincinnati W 13-3
losing to buffalo twice....really???? I can see us as possibly 10-6 maybe 11-5 if everything goes great, but we aint losing to buffalo twice...no way in hell. theyre gonna blow
Wow I was going game by game and didn't even realize I did that..I'm gonna go change that to 13-3! lol
We still have a brutal schedule, but after winning today in dominating fashion, 10-11 wins is a definite possibility. Heck if we can beat the pats next week, we are talking about a division title. Lets go, skies the limit!
Going into today's game I saw the Jets winning 8 or 9...but I also expected them to lose this afternoon, so I'll say 10 right now.
@ Texans - Win 24-7 New England - Loss 31-21 Tennessee - Loss 27-24 @ New Orleans - Loss 35-10 @ Miami (Monday Night Football) - Win - 21-17 Buffalo - Win 27-6 @ Oakland - Win 34-13 Miami - Win - 21-14 Jacksonville - Win - 24-20 @ New England - Loss 38-21 Carolina - Loss - 17-14 @ Buffalo (Thursday, in Canada) - Win 20-17 @ Tampa Bay - Loss 24-13 Atlanta - Loss 31-20 @ Indianapolis - Loss - 35-18 Cincinnati - Win - 24-10 8-8 and no playoffs from me, we can't really bank on just ONE game. We looked really good, but, this could be the "up" and the "down" is always a rough ride.
Based on what we saw today, and saw elsewhere around the league, this looks like a real possibility: New England - loss Tennessee - win @ New Orleans - loss @ Miami (Monday Night Football) - win Buffalo - win @ Oakland - win Miami - win Jacksonville - win (7-2 highpoint of the season) @ New England - loss Carolina - win @ Buffalo (Thursday, in Canada) - loss @ Tampa Bay - win Atlanta - loss @ Indianapolis - loss Cincinnati - win (10-6 probable playoffs) Chad is going to blow chunks this year and like 2007 it will take the Fins forever to replace him, probably after we beat them for the second time in week 9. Barring a Brady injury we probably lose both games against the Pats as Belichik does what he does to young QB's like clockwork, even great ones like Sanchez. I'm pegging the Jets to lose the game in Buffalo and do poorly down the stretch as Sanchez gets his first taste of winter in what looks to be a cold and blustery winter.
what game did you watch? jumping the gun a might early, me thinks! sanchez didn't lose us the game, but i wouldn't call his play great. please lets not set the bar so low!!!
New England - loss Tennessee - win @ New Orleans - loss @ Miami (Monday Night Football) - win Buffalo - win @ Oakland - win Miami - win Jacksonville - win (7-2 highpoint of the season) @ New England - win Carolina - win @ Buffalo (Thursday, in Canada) - win @ Tampa Bay - win Atlanta - loss @ Indianapolis - loss Cincinnati - win 12-4
I said 9 but it could be 10 with a little luck, and missing the playoffs, but I think we could be in contention for a wild card spot.
I had 8 wins before today, so I'll stick to it. I had us winning this game, but I had no idea it would be this prettty
Are you kidding? That was one of the best game one performances by a rookie starting QB in NFL history. You want some comparisons to get an idea? 12-22-150-1-1 >>>> Dan Marino in game five against New Orleans in 1983. Rookie QB on a good team. 1-8-14-0-1 >>>> John Elway in game one against Pittsburgh in 1983. Rookie QB on a good team. 9-13-161-1-0 >>>> Matt Ryan in game one against Detroit in 2008. Rookie QB on a team that would be good by the midpoint of the season. 15-29-129-0-0 >>>> Joe Flacco in game one against Cincinnati in 2008. Rookie QB on a good team. The media is afraid to twitch on this one because its the Jets and the Jets make the media look stupid every time they jump on the bandwagon. The facts are that what we saw out of Sanchez today suggests that he is going to be a truly great QB in this league for a long time. First start - great job - win. That's almost completely unprecedented in recent NFL history. Go find the guy who started his first game in his rookie season at any point and did the kind of job Sanchez did today. I couldn't find him.
I'm trying to keep it conservative. I was very happy about today's win, big time win. But we aren't the greatest team ever. We are better than I thought, but Texas is worse than I thought. I think we'll know a lot more after next week. I feel better about our chances though. Before today, I would have bet money we'd get blown out of the water against the Patsies. I say 8-10 wins.
