I lost count at 10. Horrible discipline! In every area too, Special Teams, Offense, Defese (Liitttooo!) 3rd and 10, convert for a first down, flag, 3rd and 15, shovel pass, punt. Killed momentum on both sides of the ball this HAS to be corrected. It's still early and I'm hoping it's just some jitters they're getting out of their system now but we're not beating too many teams with over 100 yds in penalties! On a side note, NO turnovers! Excellent! Bart Scott ripping the ball away from Jacobs was a think of beauty. It wasn't like "Ooops he dropped the ball let me get it", it was a good old fashioned New York mugging. He pretty muched robbed him on the field. If that's what the Rex Ryan defense is all about then we have alot to look forward too. Just stop shooting yourselves in the damn foot with the dumb penalties!!
Each time has one major concern that comes out of this game. For the Giants it's the WRs and the Jets it's the penalties. Both can be remedied, but it's going to take some work.
Makes no sense. We had too many Monday too. I thought we were one of the least penalized teams. I think Rex just preaches ATTACK!!
I hope so. Now's the time to do it. But if it carries over to the regular season, it's going to be a long year.
12 penalties for over 100 yards is obviously unacceptable. I must admit though, that I kinda enjoyed both Jenkins and Gholston's! At least they got their money's worth
Its the pre-season but there were alot from our starters and it defintely worries a bit but what can you do cry about it ? Just hope we cut that shit out an leave it in the preaseason.
He was pissed because the play should have been blown dead right after Jenkins encroached on O'Hara. The ref didn't do his job of protecting the QB (that's actually part of the back judges' instructions from Mike Pereira per an NFL Network special) and, especially considering that it's preseason, I don't blame Eli for being pissed.
I know I'm biased, but not blowing the whistle on that encroachment was worse than the Gholston play, IMO. I think that roughing the passer is tough to call as it happens in a split second and the thunderous retort from the hit sounded a lot like helmet to helmet. I know everyone wants Gholston to get his sack, but it's a QB driven league and the refs instructions certainly cater to this. That same hit would probably be called by another officiating crew as well.
THE penalties fall on the coaching staff--------undiciplined unprepared-------GIANTS have a 3rd and 6 we jump offside, very next play they have 3rd n 1 again we are flagged----------sorry guys falls all on the coaching!!! Way too many penalties and this team might have too many flaws to win games without stupid penalties never mind what they did last nite. Eli was correct at bitching and moaning the play should have been blown dead-----------the Gholston flag in my eyes was not really bad-in fact he did not lowere his head he came in with his head up and they hit mask to mask-----------at least Gholston showed up on film
We were. When Mangini ran the show. We're going to be penalized a lot this year. That's what happens when you run a fun training camp. But I think we'll be fine in spite of that.
i re-watched every penalty in slow mo. we didn't commit a SINGLE penalty. the refs made bad calls on every one of them. even when jenks knocked eli on his ass, if you look close, eli had that retarded look on his face and NEEDED to be knocked down, thus not a penalty. and the ghost helmet to helmet hit? wtf! ghost was running around with his eyes closed and didn't even know where he was, so how can that be a penalty????? the next audible from the head linesman will be 'paper of plastic?'
I'm rewatching the game now and it looked like Jenkins didn't make contact until the ball was snapped. He was in the neutral zone, but didn't touch O'Hara until he started to snap the ball. Refs made the right call, IMO And Herm.
Doesn't Lito know better not to mug people? What the frig. Unless it was because he was getting burned and had no choice but to get grabby, it's still not good. And he got away with one, too.
