these picks werent value, ko simpson or bing would've been value because they were projected to go much higher. these two guys would've been value picke if we signed them as undrafted FA

Whether Smith and Schlegel are good players, only time will tell. I've never seen Smith play; did see Schlegel play, and he was great in the one game I saw in person.

Either way, I think you can see why these guys were drafted: high character, leaders who are smart.

Gil Brandt on E. Smith: "He's a safety with very good ball skills and also is a very smart player."

Gil Brandt on A. Schlegel: "Entered the Air Force Academy and was elected team captain as a sophomore, before transferring to Ohio State. He was a two-year starter for OSU and considered the team's best leader."

We're reaching a lot and each pick makes less and less sense. I'm not about to say the FO is a bunch of idiots, but they had better know something most of us don't.

We are drafting for smarts and leadership. The mark of a champion on defense!

It doesn't matter what professional scouts think. Some teenage punks on an internet message board always know more than them. Isn't this fairly obvious!??!?!!?

More obvious that because they're "professionals" they are all knowing, infinitely wise and utterly infallible.

If guys like Bing and Simpson are such no brainers, then why through 97 picks and 3 whole rounds are they still on the board? Oh I forgot, the people on this message board know more than all 32 NFL GM's. My mistake.

I know this won't make us feel well... :

    We could have had ...

    D'Brick
    Mangold
    Clemens
    Watson
    Bing

DAMN...that would have made us an 8-8 team FOR SURE...now we get the 6th pick in the 4th...

I can see us taking Simpson, Bing, Watson, Gilles, or D. Williams....we've gotta

Did Tannebaum learn nothing, from Bradway, i dont even think Bradway is this stupid. I swear i could do a much better job on draft day than what those 2 idiots did today, i cant believe he actually went to school for this.

2 years ago, you would have said Coleman was a waste in round 5, and you would have said Lofa Tatupu was a major waste in round 2.

How Tangini ranks players and how Kiper ranks players and how any other team ranks players is completely different. For all we know, Smith can be a steal and be a great starter, and other teams could have been ready to grab him right after our pick.

I don't really like the picks at all after Clemens, but I'm not calling them wastes. I have to reserve judgement, especially since both should be contributors.

I disagree. Obviously reading a couple draft magazines and websites, along with watching ESPN, seeing maybe one game and a couple highlights of players obviously makes the fans more useful than the professionals.
