    This is classic. I remember about a month back I was talking about Cassel being the ultimate byproduct of a good system in New England and there were more than a few on here who couldn't stop singing this guy's praises. It was obvious that his deficiencies would be exposed in KC but I thought it would take longer than 1 damn preseason game.

    MJD isn't the greatest, but Haley's comments are interesting.

    If cassel flops, the Pats win again.

    Cassell will flop. Atleast he won't play up to the money he was paid. I remember how worried I was that he would become a Jet. Yikes.

    Wouldn't put too much into this yet. It's training camp and it's a new coach trying to piss out his turf.

    Surprised to see Thigpen projecting as the #3 though. He wasn't bad at all last season.

    No Thigpen wasn't bad last year. I always felt that Croyle would be a good QB so it's nice to see him doing well.

    He's on a new team learning a new offense. Last year he was so bad in the pre-season people wanted him cut and then he went out and put up a pro bowl caliber performance. I'm sick of hearing people say the Chiefs made a dumb decision taking an unproven commodity. Scott Pioli and Josh Mcdaniels are both pretty qualified to evaluate his worth and they both wanted him. Let's see how he does.

    True. Too soon to make any judgements, the media and fans had Cassell not even making the team after his poor preseason last year. Cassel was pretty good last year.

    1- Cassel was better than anyone had a right to expect. Only time will tell if he's a true starting QB in the NFL.
    2- He wasn't asked to do too much until later in the season last year.
    3- The 11-5 record is a bit skewed by the fact that the Pats (Jets and Phins too) played a rather weak schedule. The Pats were not a SB contender without Brady IMO. The D was bad on 3rd down and in the red zone, not a good combo. Brady would have given them enough offense to have a shot....

    I do think Pioli might have been wise to hold off on the big money extension this early...

    Based on how well the Chicken's disciples have all done outside of umbrella what makes you so sure any of these other than Belly himself are great football minds?

    Mangina = Fail
    Crennel = Fail
    Weiss = Fail
    McDaniels = ? But not well liked in Denver and hasn't even played a reg season game

    If you really think about there aren't any players that come to mind either that have excelled outside the Pats organization... Branch sucks, Samuel is ok, Milloy stunk, Law was ok....

    cassell being benched would be almost as automatic as the raiders going 4-12 this year. he's just not that good.

    I just meant that both of them were part of the draft that brought him in and worked closely with him for years developing him. More just addressing the arguement some people have made that the Chiefs were stupid and just made a blind decision to get the new flavor of the week system qb that produced only because of the talent around him. They know him well enough for me to put some stock in what they think. Of course the results are going to be all that matters, just speculating.

    Nothing to get worked up about at this time. Cassel's probably not going to get outplayed by Croyle or Thigpen in the regular season. The former is too brittle and the latter had middling success in 2008 because Herman Edwards decided to run a college style offense for him. We don't know if Thigpen is going to be adequate in Haley's offense.
