Watching NFL Total Access, Michael Lombardi was on and said the Jets have contacted an NFC West team (has to be Seattle) about sending over Thomas Jones. Also: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Biggs-Jets-may-look-to-trade-Jones.html
Rebuilding season I guess, if it occurs. Unless we trade him for like Deion Branch, which will still be bad probably.
The National Football Post reports that the Jets are "gauging interest" in Thomas Jones and have placed a call to an NFC West club. The team was probably Seattle, although St. Louis could use an upgrade at backup tailback. Jones is coming off his first career Pro Bowl berth and a 1,312-yard, 13-touchdown season, but has been upset with his contract and turns 31 in a week. He'd likely only cost a fourth-round pick. The Jets will use a 1-2 punch of Leon Washington and Shonn Greene if they can move him. Aug. 11 - 6:42 pm et
I don't think he's going anywhere. That is all Ryan talks about the three headed monster of Jones, Washington and Greene. It would be very risky to start a rookie RB with a rookie QB.
I'd take a 4th rounder for him... Moving him would get us more picks in 2010, which will probably be one of the best drafts of all time. This team would also have to pick up another veteran running back - Kenny Watson was recently cut by the Bengals. He'd come in pretty cheap.
I don't like the move. Seattle doesn't have anything amazing to offer in terms of personnel. And even if they are getting a sweet package of draft picks, they are pretty much giving up on this year.
Gauging interest is likely all it is. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me that much if the NFC West club were SF and we were just trying to see how desperate the Crabtree situation had become.
I don't think anything will happen here but if we can pick up a 4th, eliminate a contract dispute and open up a spot for Woodhead, I don't have much of a problem with it.
1. That most definitely won't happen. 2. Why in the hell would you want Crabtree?' 3. I can't wait until Friday - the offseason is almost over.
I realize my take is going to be "black-n-gold" biased. BUT, as a Hawkeye fan, I would like nothing more for than TJ to be in a different camp. Most of you may be unsold on what Shonn is going to bring to the table as you have not seen him run "live". But he is special. His vision, balance, power is something just a blast to watch. Opponents will be cursing themselves because they will continue to say to themselves, "Man, I had him in my grasp!!!" while they watch Greene tossing the ball to the ref. in the end zone.
