think this is bad? Wait till the guys who bought PSLs try to sell them next year. They are going to get FLEECED.
Interesting. I went to the ticket exchange and it they pricing was still 75 a game for uppers like it is now....and if you notice the little asterisk....it says 20% off INDIVIDUAL GAME TICKET PRICING. The way this could be read is...they are going to sell single game seats soon, but 20% higher over what we pay for our seasons? Anybody else read it this way???
i looked at it, went to ticketmaster.com, went to jets/rams preseason, and the tickets were still marked at 75 bucks.. they had both preseason games on sale.. they did no raise the price for those i see.. but regular season is yet to go on sale.
So I called the ticket office...I said I'm a little displeased that they are now offering 20% discounts to new season ticket holders, after the existing ticket holders mailed in their money before May 1. The man on the phone gave me an attitude, and said "Sir, I'm sorry but this is for a limited amount of seats only." I then asked if they would cancel my current season tickets, let me choose new "limited seats", and send me the difference in the two amounts. He gave me some bullshit that "your tickets are non refundable, and we hope you enjoy the 2009 season." Before I hung up I told him that this franchise is a complete disaster, and if I could get a full refund and cancel my 2009 season tickets that I would have. Also said this is no way to treat a fan base which has been nothing but loyal to you, after 40 years of disappointment. I'm sure the guy was holding the phone 3ft away from his ear, but made me feel better to let him know that I was pissed off. Thank GOD I didn't go for the PSL...
i am going to call up on lunch as well.. i will give them a piece of my mind, as should everyone else.. the more calls they get, the harder it will be for them to sell these damn things..
I understand your analogy about the box of cereal on sale, but what about this analogy: If you buy a suit in Macy's tonight and it goes on sale Friday for 20% off, you can go back to the store with your receipt and they'll credit your account. They do this because they value customers and don't believe in screwing them. When you piss customers off repeatedly, at some point it comes home to roost. It's already coming home in 2009 for the NY Jets.
Great analogy...you don't "price adjust" your new customers, and say "sorry, no refunds" to the ones who have been loyal to you. This organization has done a complete 180 in the last 3 years in my eyes, getting worse each year. This is the pinnacle of my disgust...I realize that I'm being petty about this "20% off" for new season ticket holders, but it's the principle that's really getting under my skin.
I look at it as the same scenario as a retail store giving discounts on seasonal merchandise when moving into the next season. They have to move the inventory now, so they have to offer a discount. I don't see a problem with it from a business standpoint, but of course I'd be pissed if I already paid full price. Isn't there some kind of rule with retail sales, where you can get the difference if you bought within 30 days? I wonder if that would have to be followed with tickets?
i spoke with a ticket rep on my lunch today, and he informed me that they arent really offering 20 percent off. They are selling 8 regular season game plans, which do not require you to buy preseason games, or parking. so in essense, my 2 tickets, and 2 parking cost me 340 bucks for being loyal. ef that
Actually, it's not 3 years, it's more than 8 years. Throughout this thread I've been harping about how the Mezz seats have increased 10% per year for the past 8 years. This isn't something that started 3 years ago, it started when Woody bought the team. Simple rule of thumb is that a 10% add-on will double the principle in 7.5 years... do the math. So, our Mezz prices have more than doubled during the relatively short time Woody has owned the team. People in other sections were mostly unaware of this ongoing, 8-year Mezz screwing, but it was one of the major contributing factors in my decision to NOT buy the PSLs. My reasoning was that if Woody would screw his loyal ticketholders that way (me) WITHOUT a PSL, what in the world will he be able to do WITH a PSL in place? You are quite literally fucked. So yes, your statement is correct about the organization doing a 180, but it's been within an 8-year period, not just 3. Most people are unaware that Woody Johnson has been screwing some of his oldest and most loyal ticketholders for the entire time he's owned the team. All I can say to anyone who read my warning and failed to make it a major part of their decisionmaking at the timne they purchased their PSL is, Good Luck! "Oh, but he won't do that to me," they say. Reminds me of the story about the little boy who discovered a snake in his bed one night: "Hey," he says to the snake, "You have to get out of my bed! I'm afraid you might bite me tonight!" The snake begs the little boy to let him sleep in his bed with him, saying, "I know I'm a snake but I'm a nice snake and I promise I won't bite you." So, the little boy acquiesces and allows the snake to sleep in his bed that night. Somewhere in the middle of the night, the snake bites the little boy. "Hey," the little boy exclaims, "I thought you promised me you wouldn't bite me!" "I know I told you that," says the snake, "but I AM a snake, you know?" Woody Johnson is a fucking rattlesnake, so good luck with the PSLs boys.
Holy Christ. I'm having trouble with this. I've been buying these worthless scrimmage games for years now. There has to be a refund for them this year, this is just not fair.
i voiced my opinion to them, as did rudd.. i hope more call.. this is just lunacy.. i have to waste my effin money on these piece of crap games.
I agree...I've been in sec 225 for 12 years. I have felt the same increases that you have, but I always thought Jets season tickets were a bargain for many of those years. I think I started at $55 per ticket in 1997. And in the past 12 years, we have gotten to $115. I mentioned 3 years because I believe the customer service, front office, etc. has declined at a more rapid pace in that span, than in previous years. But I completely agree that Woody is a snake, and only in this game to line his own pockets. He could care less about the fan. Luckily, our fan base is recognizing that, and telling him to go screw himself.
its only a matter of time until radical changes are made with psl's.. why buy seats now though? they will be discounted come august 2010
if they are pulling this nonsens for the 2009 season I wonder what is up there sleeve if PSLs aren't all sold out
There is no chance that the jets will sell all the 10,000 15,000 and 20,000 PSL seats. no chance. I mean, when they tried to sell the 2000 coaches club they sold, what, 700 of them? There is no demand if any at that price. The prices of PSLs if they don't come down during the sales, they will come down AFTER the sales. I have no idea what price point they will stabilize at, but 4,000 a seat mezz seats...no effin' way. If you are buying PSLs you HAVE to be thinking long term or you are going to lose your shirt.
