I know people hate the idea..but it seems it will be more of a "developemental" league for the NFL.

They soft announced team names and sites:

Las Vegas Locomotives Las Vegas, NV Sam Boyd Stadium2 2009 Jim Fassel

New York Sentinels New York City, NY Citi Field3 2009 Ted Cottrell

Orlando Tuskers Orlando, FL Citrus Bowl 2009 Jim Haslett

San Francisco Rockfish San Francisco, CA AT&T Park 2009 Dennis Green

I can't comprehend the hate for this league. It's not gimmicky. It's not trying to go head-to-head with the NFL. It's very upfront as being a developmental league with only a couple of teams and a small roster, and it'll do the service of both having a place for fringe players to work on their game, a place for axed coaches to rebuild their reps, and a way to watch real, honest to goodness American football in the offseason.

    People are dicks.

All the names suck. Were they trying to make the most inaccurate names possible or what?(Elephants in Orlando and a Mid-Atlantic fish for SF)

Ted Cottrell is coaching the NY team. He could learn a few things from Rex's defense.

The Orlando name is a slang for Wild Boar in Florida.

Name still sucks. But I'm excited for the UFL.
Too bad the Citrus bowl (and surrounding area) sucks so hard.

I thought you were gonna go with Johnny Utah but Shane Falco works too.

What? How would Johnny Utah work? He didn't play football in Point Break(backstory & not in movie) while Shane Falco plays for the Sentinels in The Replacements.

Dude, Johnny Utah played QB at OSU before he blew his knee out. The kid had a big future. It doesn't work yet I just always think of Reeves as Johnny Utah, that's all. I never saw replacements. I knew Reeves was the QB in that movie but I didn't realize their team name was the Sentinels. Disregard my Johnny Utah comparison.

Johnny Utah and Shane Falco both played at OSU. Shane Falco was a QB at OSU, and Johnny Utah was a CB at OSU. Remember the hit he makes on the beach, and that is how that recognize him as Johnny Utah. The big hit in the Rose Bowl, and he choked the Sugar Bowl while playing at OSU. LOL!

The XFL was a gimmick. This is not. It is a "minor league' for the NFL. People who love football will watch.
