I've recently started going to the games. Meadowlands memories include: - Watching Chad getting took out by the Jaguars. Then watching Fiedler(sp) following suit. - Rooting for "Bolls" for most of the 2005 season. - Wayne Chrebet's final catch for a 1st down against the Chargers. - LT jukes Ty Law out of his fucking shoes. Pathetic. - Brett Favre 6 TD's. (Which somewhat fucking blew because my original corner uppers were in perfect line to see them all, instead, that game I opted for better lower seats behind the endzone in the opposite side of the field. So pissed) - Ebram Elam's sack/strip and Ellis runs it in for the TD against the Bills. Pandemonium ensues. There will be many more as I have become a season ticket holder and will look to buy tickets in the new stadium.
- 1997: Jets beat the Raiders 23-22. This was my first game in person at the Meadowlands in which the Jets won. They were 0-8 at home in 1996 and in 1995, when I was 7, I missed a couple of games due to some family issues/deaths, of course both times we won. I thought until '97 that I was the bad luck charm. . I'll never forget Big Play Ray Mickens blocking that Field Goal and the craziness that happened after that. Possibly my favorite game ever, just because it was the first win I witnessed in person. - 1998: The magical run from 0-2 and 2-3 to 12-4 and winning the East. The Jacksonville playoff game in which our car broke down on the way to the game, only for us to arrive 15 minutes before kickoff, park across the street at the Continental, run through that damn bridge and get into our seats right as the National Anthem is ending. Keyshawn's INT was amazing and right infront of our seats. Curtis controlled that game on the ground. - 1999: Vinny's ACL in the Home Opener against the Pats. Need I say more. - 2000: The Patriot comeback in Week 2 on MNF. Vinny to Chrebet! The Monday Night Miracle. At the end of the 3rd, I wanted to leave but my Dad said we were not leaving because you never know what can happen and if the Jets come back and win, you don't have to go to school tomorrow. And the rest is history, we all know what happened after that. Jumbo's touchdown right infront of my seats was one of the coolest and funniest things I've ever seen. And of course the Jets blow the playoffs on a Week 16 10-7 loss to DETROIT. Ugh. - 2002: Chad Pennington plays like Joe Montana. What a run! What an amazing week with Green Bay and Indianapolis blow outs. - 2003: Santana Moss catches a GW touchdown from Pennington right infront of my seats against the Jags in the first ever "Marshall Bowl". We had swapped our seats in 124 with a friend who sat in 101 that day because our seats in 124 were undercover and his were not. There was a chance of rain and he was bringing his wife. Zero rain and I got to sit 6 rows from the field instead of 31 and the GW play which would've been on the other side of the field from me happened directly infront. Very cool. Also the 6-0 win in the snow against Pittsburgh. There were maybe 15,000 people that day, I stayed and me and a few Jet fans were throwing snowballs at the Steeler fans and the security just laughed. Good times. Martin's rumble through the snow! - 2004: LaMont Jordan costing us the Baltimore game by throwing a halfback pass into the endzone which was picked 6'd by Ed Reed. We lost by 3. **** you LaMont! - 2005: Week 3 Jacksonville. Need I say more? - 2006: Beating Oakland to clinch the Wild Card in a season in which nobody thought we'd win more than 6 games. Awesome. - 2007: Shutting up the mass arrival of Pittsburgh fans. Kellen Clemens' first pro victory. Stealing drunk Steeler fans terrible towels. - 2008: Brett Favre. You don't get to watch too many Hall of Famers on your team in your lifetime, even if he got hurt down the stretch it was a joy to watch and I thank him for some of the memories (Arizona, St.Louis, @ New England in which I was there). __________________
wow - all of the memories flooding back. In addition to what's already been mentioned: - the Marino fake spike - the game in December 1988 when we knocked the Giants out of the playoffs. - the MNF game against Buffalo ('90 or '91?) when all hell broke loose in the stands.
My favorite memories from the Meadowlands: Watching my son take in his first NFL game at the age of 7. The Monday Night miracle - we were there till the end, and beyond. The Steelers game in '07. Stands full of their fans and we beat them. Favre's 6 TD game. In fact, getting to see Favre play in Green & White period. Although he fucked it up in the end, it was fun to see anyway. Watching Wayne Chrebet play. The guy was just plain fucking amazing. One of my 2 favorite JETS of all time...the other being CMart of course. Chrebet's last catch - will NEVER forget that awful feeling in my stomach.....Not suprisingly though, it was for a 1st down - how fitting was that? Watching Curtis break the 14000 yard mark. The first game Belichick came back to the Meadowlands...I have never heard anyone get booed that loud for that long. I still hate the scumbag. Vinny's QB sneak. LT juking Ty Law right out of his shoes directly in front of us. Watching my son meet CMart and Wayne Chrebet, his 2 biggest heros on the face of the earth, at a VIP event.
O'Brien getting sacked on every other play Gastineau's late hit on Kosar Fake spike Rich Kotite Martin's fumble Vinny's achilles Vinny's interceptions Chad's hand Chad's shoulder 2 missed field goals Chad's shoulder 1-4
06 was a good year. home opener cotchery and coles with amazing touchdowns the miller return against the colts in 06 was pretty cool.especially hearing bob weaselsusan make the call and /or royaltee reenacting it. tailgating against the bears and lions was sweet with other tgg.comers
41-0 is all I have to say. Santana Moss especially from that game was amazing. I think only the Monday Night Miracle and a SB win can beat that feeling. Sadly, my first game as a 15 yr old was the Dennis Byrd game. The week before my hero Al Toon retired after a Steve Atwater hit. We were all later reminded of that feeling when Chrebet took that last hit on the sidelines and you could just look right through his eyes into his brain it felt like. Best game on TV was one of the first games I can remember which was the O'brien shootout against Miami 51-45. I still remember Costas calling the highlights after the game.
I forgot about how crazy the place got when Miller brought that kick back to the house against Indy to make it 24-21. Indy was undefeated and we thought we had them beat. Then we quickly realized, oh yeah, Peyton Manning didn't retire yet.
I was @ the game and at the time a huge Miller fan. I went nutz! ...and we lost  afa the stadium goes, it's interesting to see hom wany people have been taking the train in! I remeber people BITCHING LIKE CRAZY that a stadium in Manhattan would be horrible because no tailgating... the only thing I can chalk that up to is pre-season TIX were given away to fans who didn't have parking passes but there were A LOT of people on the trains this preseason...
list of my favorite games/moments at the meadowlands in no particular order... 1. playoff game vs. jax-Johnson int to seal the deal 2. playoff rout of indy 41-0 3. snow game vs. pit 4. wk 17 vs. packers and pre game tailgate- watching mia/ne on tv than going in as game was ging into ot...when vinatieri won the game for ne to give us hope, it started as a murmur in the crowd and spread then they show the highlight on the board and the place erupts...then crushing favre and the pack...one of my top days of watching football. 5. winning what was essentially a pit home game...sacking big ben 7 times. 6. clinching a playoff birth vs oak 7. favre 6 td's 8. rout of stl 9. chrebet's last game 10. first home game after 9/11 beating patriots 11. my first monday night game 12. the near victory against the undefeated colts 13. bruce springsteen concert summer of 06
Not the Last Season What makes you think pre-2009 season ticket holders won't be offered PSL free seats in 2010? Here are my reasons you will be offered. 1) An unusually large abount of existing season ticket holders did not renew for 2009. 2) I know an equally large amount of existing season tickets holders will not renew for 2010. 3) A huge amount of people became Jet Season ticket holders in 2009 and they are behind you on the list to get PSL free seats. 4) There are people who were called for a PSL or a PSL free seat already and choose to buy a PSL. 5) There are lots of scalpers and people sitting on 4-8 seats in their name who can't possibly afford to but that many PSLs. 6) The scalpers and people sitting on 4-8 good seats who sell them to other people now as they are good seats, lower sideline etc who get offered crappy seats in the corners or high up won't take all or any of those seats as you can't resale them at a profit. 7) Death, Divorce, Dispair etc. Every year for a variety of reasons people do not renew. I for one am sitting on 4 seats, all 4 are great seats. I only was able to unload my extra tickets at face this year. What would I do with extra tickets next year when I had to beg people to take them at $105, how am I getting rid of seats at $400? Finally, when they call you, it is my year, seniority and seat location. So when they get to lets say 1998 season ticket holders, they start with front row club, Mezz, lower level etc. So if you are in Mezz you will be one of the first called when they get to that year as it only has 11 rows. In conclusion most of you will be called for a PSL free seat if you have your seats pre 2009. The final thought is if the Jets can't sell all the PSLs and your seat is empty in the new stadium the Jets might rent you the seat till they sell it. Makes sense. Why leave expensive seats empty once the real season begins.
1st home game after 9/11 was vs the 49ers on monday nite. we had beaten the pats the week before as our 1st game back after 9/11 but that was in foxboro.the infamous bledsoe hit by mo lewis game.
That was the first year we had our current seats, what a surreal night that was, mainly the pre-game.
