Don't get me wrong, I cannot stand Cimini, but I'm not sure he's trying to alarm anyone, he's just telling the truth. A lot of folks just assume Sanchez will be the starter. Clearly he needs to make significant progress before that can happen. Of course, that's nothing to be alarmed about as you point out he's a damn rookie.

I seriously don't think he will be the starter in week 1. If he is, it means that Clemens is just that terrible, or that our FO and ownership are pushing for it hard - which would be dumb. The Jets had a healthy Favre for half a season with half a playbook and he ended up getting hurt. They went out and seriously addressed the position in 2009. The Phins have a starting quarterback with a knot of scar tissue the size of a softball in his THROWING SHOULDER and he had a rare healthy season because they used misdirection to avoid depending on him. They also have the 'heir apparent' crappy Michigan QB who will end up about as good as Kellen Clemens. You will soon learn that the Parcells band-aid fixes only work when Parcells is actually coaching the team.

I'll try this once, but I doubt you have any kind of intelligent response. I don't see any Jets fans that think the QB position isn't a question mark. Of course we don't know what we have at that position. As for Clemens, he's in his 4th season in the same system and now has a solid offensive line to play behind. His only real playing time so far was in his second season as a pro behind a terrible o-line. See your boy Chad Penningtons performance behind that line for a point of reference. That's not to say Clemens is good, he looked bad in his short stint as a starter, but to make the decision that he sucks based on what we've seen so far seems stupid to me. If he sucks behind this o-line with this running game then OK, fine, he sucks. My point is that he's a question mark and to say he's good or bad at this point is not very intelligent IMO. Sanchez is a highly touted rookie. Most rookie QB's struggle if they play their rookie season, but most of the time rookies drafted so high are playing on a shitty team. The Jets have the o-line, running game, and hopefully defense to allow a good rookie to succeed. That said, I would expect him to at least struggle a bit if he plays this season. He may very well stink as a rookie but he has a good supporting cast. Favre sucked dick that last quarter of the season with an injured throwing arm. We were 8-3 prior to him and Jenkins being injured though. In short, no one on here is saying our QB situation is going to be solid. It's clearly a question mark. Saying our QB's suck is just as ignorant as saying they'll be great.
That article was total BS. Saying the Jets having a winning record last year raises the expectations for Sanchez is ridiculous. We all remember the way they finished the season. That's because we were following the team and remember what happened, not merely looking at an overall season record in a vacuum.
