The Jets are as exciting as watching paint dry. My god...an opportunity to put a face on the franchise...and they blow it. We are the most irrelevant team in major professional sports. Matt Leinart just punched his ticket to Canton.
I know, what a disaster team the Jets are not sacrificing an entire draft for Bush and then taking the best offensive tackle to come out of college in 5 years or maybe even more. Idiots
ahah, lienart might fall out of the top 10, he may fall pretty damn far actually...he really came under fire in the past week or so by teams and scouts and not just for the hollywood image
After 30 years of misery, you can't blame me if I want something to get excited about and root for. Matt Leinart could have been that player. I don't get to excited about a OT. And for the record...i undersand the arguments for D'Brick. Picking D'Brick is "trying not to lose". Picking Lienart would be playing to win. Safe pick!??!!? As long as the Jets keep making "safe picks", they will continue to be a mediocre team. 30 years of being conservative = 30 years of crap
Great post. I wanted Leinart...But i'm not gonna trash DBrick, I like it...But i'm not overly excited
And i'm glad you are...When it settles, we'll come to like the pick maybe... My guy was Leinart or Hawk...We go DBrick. Which is fine, just be a Top 5 LT
Nobody knows if Leinart was worthy of the #4 pick , just like nobody knows if Pennington is going to get healthy and play well again. We just have to wait and find out. If Pennington heals completely, he could play well again, so I think it makes sense to wait it out
The best OT in 5 yrs..get real. There are plenty of questions about Dbrick. People were blowing Mike Williams a few yrs ago, and he sucked for Buffalo. Bryant Mckinnie was amazing at UM, gave up zero sacksin his freaking college career, went 7th and he is decent for Minnesota. You don't build great OL's through the first five picks in the draft, look around the league. An OT at 4 is a waste of a premium pick. Trade down, go defense, get Bush, take Leinart, ...all those were better options.
Oh yes, Ogden, Pace, Jones, Boselli, what wastes!!! There were questions about Pace and Ogden coming out of the draft too. How did that turn out? Only time will tell.
You know what wasn't exciting? Watching us use 5 QBs last year, and average 2 yards on runs. I didn't want to see us use a top 5 pick on a lineman either, simply because it's a shame that it had to come to this point. But when you look at the big picture, it was really the only pick to make.
