Singer buying piece of Dolphins? Miami Football is becoming a joke franchise. Ownership by a bunch of hack musicians? HAHHAHAHAHAHA
I don't like it, but it doesn't matter. Minority ownership means nothing more than a slice of the profits and/or losses. This fuckin Ross guy is getting on my nervs, I'm suprised Parcells hasn't up and left yet. Imagine how many hacks would love to get in on a slice of the Jets if Woody gave them a shot. It won't impact anything but AFCE message board conversation, and supply more stupid ammunition for Jets and Pats fans. Shit doesn't faze me though.
Anthony Buys Stake in Dolphins Posted Jul 21, 2009 1:07 PM http://www.fanhouse.com/news/main/marc-anthony-joins-dolphins/581391?icid=main|main|dl5|link5| NEW YORK (July 21) - Singer Marc Anthony is the latest music star to join forces with the Miami Dolphins, with the team announcing Tuesday that he will become a minority owner. Singer Gloria Estefan and her husband, producer Emilio Estefan, also bought a small stake in the club last month. New Dolphins owner Stephen Ross also began a partnership in May with Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville enterprise, which includes Land Shark Lager. Buffett has yet to accept Ross' invitation to become a minority owner, but the Dolphins' stadium has been renamed Land Shark Stadium for this season. Buffett has also written a song for the team. Anthony will also perform the national anthem on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" on Oct. 12 against the New York Jets as part of the NFL's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Anthony is married to singer-actress Jennifer Lopez. He has sold more than 10 million albums and is also an actor. Ross, a New York real estate billionaire, completed his purchase of the Dolphins in January from Wayne Huizenga and quickly set out to rebrand the franchise. He has said he wants to fill up the stands with "a blend of entertainment and winning football."
Jennifer Lopez's dad upset by Marc? (UKPA) – 7 hours ago Marc Anthony has risked the wrath of his father-in-law by buying a share in a rival American football team. The father of Marc's wife Jennifer Lopez is a passionate New York Jets fan, but Marc has plumped for the Miami Dolphins. Asked what concerns he had about his minority share in the team, the singer - who has been married to Jennifer for five years - said he was only worried about the fact that her father is a rabid New York Jets fan, but added that Jen herself was supportive: "By default she owns everything I do - I would say of my share, she owns a majority."
Fergie May Become Dolphins Partner Posted Oct 13, 2009 9:10 PM http://www.fanhouse.com/news/nfl/fergie-may-become-dolphins-partner/716588 MIAMI (Oct. 13) - Fergie may soon be on the Miami Dolphins' bandwagon as a limited partner. NFL owners meeting in Boston this week approved the Black Eyed Peas singer as a part owner, but the team has yet to complete an agreement with her, Dolphins chief executive officer Mike Dee said in an e-mail Tuesday. Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas already have a marketing partnership with the Dolphins. She wears a pink Dolphins jersey in a campaign this month for breast cancer awareness. Team owner Stephen Ross has brought six other celebrities into the fold this year. The first partnership was with singer Jimmy Buffett. Musicians Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Marc Anthony and tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams subsequently bought small shares of the team. All attended the Dolphins' home opener last month, and Anthony sang the national anthem Monday night, when the Dolphins won their second game in a row by beating the New York Jets 31-27. Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, is a Grammy-winning singer and also an actress. Ross has said his celebrity partnerships stir excitement and reflect the vibrancy of South Florida, and he envisions the Dolphins as a glamour team.
this is video of Marc Anthony getting upset before monday night's game. apparently Michael Richards was in town for the game and wasn't in the mood to wear the ribbon, which didn't make Mr. Anthony none to happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGaqI20WHyk
I'd rather a bunch of minority owners who keep their noses out of personnel than a megalomaniac jackass like Jerry Jones, at least.
does anyone else find the notion of becoming an owner of a football team, and then singing for them before the game, oddly weird/gay? I don't know how to explain it. It's like imagining someone saying, "Hey, I'm going to become a minority owner of a franchise in the National Football League, and then I'm going to go sing for them!" I don't know, it's probably just me.
How much money could she have? I wonder what it takes to buy in, 3 million? 5 million? I imagine that the Fins want as many celebrities as possible to get involved figuring, for example, if Fergie wears a fins jersey on stage it will help sell fins swag. Meh, in any case, as we determined here at tgg, she's a buttaface.
Thank you, I'd rather have Ross and his celebrity minority owners hang out in they're box and let Parcells do what he does than have an owner like Jones or even worse Snyder handle the football operations cuz they think they know their shit. I still don't understand what the big deal is with Ross bringing in all the celebs.
And he got those trophies cuz Jimmy Johnson was able to sucker Minnesota into one of the worst deals in NFL history and it laid the groundwork for the 90's dynasty. Then Jones wants control over personnel decisions, JJ leaves, Jones wins more Super Bowl with the players JJ drafted and the Cowboys haven't done squat since. And if you think Jerry Jones knows about personnel, that Roy Williams trade says otherwise.
It doesn't matter how he did it, he has them- 3 of them which is the same amount that Miami and the Jets have combined.
