Burress is the only threat available out of the choices listed. If we're going to stick with average receivers, might as well stick with what we've got.

Harrison and Toomer might be average now, but their experience could help a young QB like Sanchez or even Clemens.

I think Harrison's knees are shot. I doubt he would be healthy enough to stay on the field, and when he was I doubt he would be quick enough to get open.

Burress makes the most sense when you compare him to anyone else that is currently available. Any of TJ Houshmandzadeh, Torry Holt and Nate Washington would have been nice, but they're gone now.

That leaves guys like Koren Robinson, Drew Carter, Ashley Lelie, Justin McCareins, DJ Hackett, Ike Hilliard and Darrell Jackson. None of them is anything to get excited about but I don't see the harm in signing at least one of them; if they show nothing cut him before the start of the season and the team is off the hook for the contract.

I think the best bet will be to see who gets released by other teams during training camp, especially on the last cut. Unfortunately that doesn't give the player much time to learn the playbook or get his timing down with the QB, but it still is probably the best option other than Burress.

    Money???

Now that Plax has thrown away his career & a 35K contract, he would cost a lot less than Torry Holt. (unfortunately Plax is a locker room nightmare, Torry Holt was a locker room dream)

There was no muscle or nerve damage. The wound was very superficial...which makes it even more of a tragedy. The guy ruined his career over a bullet that barely broke his skin.

Burress or Toomer makes sense for them, since they live in NY being Giants.

Exactly. Trade for Brandon Marshall should be an option.

plax....everyone else is garbage and a waste of a roster spot (at this point in their careers)

plax is going to be on his best behavior if he gets to play. and you've never heard about him being a bad teamate. yes he's done some stupid shit but he's never been a cancer "in" the locker room

he's still a #1 receiver in the prime of his career. if he can get around the legal issues and only have a minimal suspension pre trial there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't roll the dice

Yeah, trade for Marshall or Boldin should have been an option.

I'd add Drew Bennett to that list. He has size, will come cheap, and has had a few very productive seasons. If they're really committed to looking under every rock, they should at least take a chance on some of these guys.

Yeah, but Justin McCareins is on the list so I can't take it seriously.

Plax would be OK but I'm not sure he wants us. Tampa, maybe. He may have a problem playing in NY after what he went through. Afraid of the "reception" he may get. And Harrison has played in a dome and with Manning all his career and may struggle a bit in the situation we would put him in. B Marshall would be ideal. Talent and youth.

Marvin had a great year in 2006. In 2007 he was hurt all year, in 2008 he was evidently healthy enough to play 15 games but put up the worst numbers of his career. Injured and lousy numbers for the last two full seasons despite playing in one of the league's best passing offenses with one of the league's best quarterbacks to me says "declining for years."

In August he'll turn 37 years old. How many productive wide receivers that old in the history of the league can you name? I think the list pretty much begins and ends with Jerry Rice. Galloway was hurt all year last year and is also now 37. We'll see if he'll be a good pickup for the Pats; regardless he's a guy who at most will run a few deep routes per game and maybe catch 25-30 passes all season. Harrison probably still thinks he should be an NFL starter. When in fact, he's done.

Marvin Harrison is old, too old. He is 36 yrs old, and no Jerry Rice. In his last yr with the Colts, he only managed 600+ yards with Manning throwing at him. If he joins the Jets, Stuckey would easily surpass him. But he adds depth at WR, not a legitimate target.

The only receiver im currently interested in or would even be worth it for the Jets is the disgruntled Brandon Marshall. Hes young, talented, and a freak of nature. He would be Sanchez's best friend and the deep threat this team needs. IMO he is worth a 1st rounder, no questions asked...
