Miami is definitely very inexperienced at CB. Other than vet Will Allen it looks like rookies Vontae Davis and Sean Smith will see a lot of playing time. I would say teams are going to take chances and test their CBs right from the first possession of week one. New England drafted Darius Butler but I doubt he'll be on the field much, other than special teams. Leigh Bodden is in his 7th year and Shawn Springs is in his 13th, so experience is not an issue with them - once again it's age. Terrance Wheatley and Jonathan Wilhite both got a fair amount of playing time last year so it's not as if they are raw rookies when they're out there.
Did i say he was a superstar? Didn't think so. He's a good corner especially when they can roll coverage his way since Springs is solid.
i wouldnt put too much stock in TO saving the bills. have you ever been to buffalo? well neither has TO. buffalo is a miserable excuse for a city and TO will HATE living there within hours of pulling in with his circus. my guess TO lives across the border in canada.
I think Buffalo is being brushed off unwisely by many of this forum. Speaking as someone who has seen TO since 2004 (when he went to the Eagles) let me tell you that he can play at a very high level. He's older now and his quickness is not what it used to be, but he still has great top speed, and is physical off the line and in blocking, and NEVER gives up on plays. TO and Evans will be a difficult duo to stop. I think that Roscoe Parrish will benefit from the respect defenses must show the two of them, he should have plenty of space underneath to utilize his quickness in the space that will be created by teams having to play safeties deep. The big questions, of course, are how effective can the offensive line keep Edwards upright and will his level of play improve? The defense has to raise it's level of play, but this team could still be very dangerous. Getting back to the original question, I can see Buffalo beating Miami at least once. I can't see them beating NE though. The Patriots have improved quite a lot and, alongside the Chargers, are my picks for the AFC championship.
Don't forget about 5th year player Eric Green who came over as a free agent from Arizona. He will more than likely be penciled in as the other starting CB opposite of Will Allen. I don't think anyone really knows what we have in him. He does get burned often and if that happens in Miami early we could see one of the two rookies in a starting role. Sean Smith was impressive at the OTA's but what does that mean. We'll know more when the pads go on. I do agree with you that for now the position is a bit of a weakness. Thus the need for the front seven to step up and apply constant pressure on opposing QB's.
That's a pretty far out/speculative theory. Talking about one aspect of a team without acknowledging weaknesses or strengths. Could the bills provide mismatch problems for other AFC east teams? Its possible. But you never really know anything until the season starts. IMHO it'll be just as tough(or easy) for us as other teams.
