I guess I was to young but I dont remember much of Lewis other than the hit, he was productive but Im sorry Id rather Lewis stay in coverage then make the hit. Because honestly I hate Tom Brady on a level that many people (even die hard Jet fans) cant comprehend
Lewis was just doing his job. He'd deliver that hit regardless of who the player was and that's what made him one of the Jets best players year in year out.
I would say 95% of general football fans would not know who knocked out Bledsoe. 50% would forget Brady replaced Bledsoe.
Mo was the definition of a football player and a warrior. He was never given his due by the NY media. Glad to see him get a little respect now. He was Mr. Jet for the decade of the 90's.
All kidding aside, that was a horrid and dangerous injury. Didn't it blow Bledsoe's carotid or something crazy like that? Anyway, great player; although 'Slow Mo' became his moniker at the tail end of his career. Sigh.
For outsiders yes, but for real Jet fans, he was one hell of a player during some real dark days. He was one of the best ever Jet players, a real professional and a bright spot on some real crap teams. Glad he at least won a division and played for a coach like Tuna
If I remember correctly, one of his lungs collapsed. The ideal goal is always to hurt your opponent as much as possible without injuring them. Sadly, there are always going to be injuries regardless of how hard you try to hit the opposing player.
I hate that Mo is remembered most as the guy who brought in Brady. Mo should be remembered as one of the great linebackers. He was a great player for a long time, only having the bad luck to be on those shitty teams.
If I remember correctly Mo was like a third degree blackbelt or something like that in karate. Truly a bad ass but was always a professional. Yes he did hold on maybe one season too long but when it comes to a franchise that doesn't have alot of alltime greats that played their entire careers in green and white he is truly one of the best.
What is hysterical is that when I first began posting on this board around the '01 season Mo was absolutely hated on here.
I was at the game Mo knocked out Bledsoe (that is how I remember it and how it should be remembered) and I looked at a Pats fan who was sitting next to me and we both just said WOW. Mo was one of the best players in Jets history
Thats true I vividly remember there being arguments around here about who should start the superbowl, Brady or Bledsoe. I mean yeah brady had the season of a super hero, but Bledsoe punched them into the Superbowl. turns out they started Brady and well it still sucks.
Bledsoe diodn't do much in the title game, the best thing he did was not screw things up. He made one play, he threw a 11 yd TD pass. he came in after Brady got hurt after a 28 yd completion on 3rd and 8 to set up Drew at the Pit 40. he went 10/21 for 102 yds and that one TD. He led NE to 3 points on O the rest of the game. The debate was all about Brady's health and BB knew if Brady was healthy he was playing.
You are correct young jedi .. people also forget some f the bone head plays that potentially could of lost the pats the game .. there was one play where he was getting sacked and he threw it behind his back or some shit and almost got picked by pit .. could of been six easily .. young frankenstein bledsoe ..
