Toby Keith is overdone and has become a cartoon character. He wears battle fatigues at concerts. Did the dude ever face any live fire, I am guessing he would shit his pants and run if he did. When I hear guys sing crap like "We'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way...." I just start to tune it out.
ive never seen him don battle fatigues at any concert ive been at? so i guess wearing a jets jersey is also considered taboo to you for guys who never played a down of football in their lives? same logic bro
Wow, wrong on so many levels. I'm beginning to think you're Don's son. You just drew a comparison between a football game and war. You realize that, right? If I'm a soldier who's risked my life in battle, I find what he did insulting.
the comparision is about clothing worn nothing more. not looking to start an argument just stating a fact. everybody wears cammo these days. look around.
Yes, but how many people at the mall wear camo and walk around saying we're gonna stomp our boots in other countries' asses? And LOL Badger.
dont know dont go around the mall staring at dudes in cammo or listen to what they are saying. sgt slaughter did it years ago. and hey at least toby keith made an effort to go overseas numerous times to entertain the troops. plus he also sings patriotic songs about the good ole usa. so what point are are you actually trying to make here bro. caused im confused.
Kid rock comes to mind right away. Drug addled, not only travled over seas for the Troops but has written songs for them. Perhaps you should educate your self on the matter before acting like a jackass again. Just because a singer is an idiot redneck does not make him more patriotic then anyone else, just a bit less evolved then the rest of us.
and in case ya missed it. kid rock has gone country too. perhaps you should educate yourself a little more before being so quick to insult. rex ryan was supposedly at a toby keith/trace adkins concert period the end.
I'm not a huge Toby Keith fan (even though I am a country music fan), but come on. Music has always been a reflection of the times. Often times it speaks to what a country, or group of people, are feeling. This has especially been true in country. Right after 9/11 people were extremely pissed off and this was one song out of many that gave voice to that emotion. But this is nothing new, look at the music after Pearl Harbor, Vietnam, Korea, etc, etc. and you see the same trends. Granted this song was much more in your face, but no one ever accused Keith of being a poet. So lets not make it out to be more than what it was. The first line is from a Chesney song. The other, the one I highlighted, is actually from a Toby Keith song. But most of Toby Keith's songs are just funny. He is very rarely serious and has made a career out of being a goofball. I always found him to be closer to being a comedian than a musician (which why I'm not a fan). So to use him and his songs as the banner to talk about modern country is silly. Off the top of my head I can name a dozen better examples than Keith.
