I think you gotta at least entertain the Saints.. but if they decide to go with Ferguson Bush may still be at #4
It would take the 4, 29, 35, and possibly a 1st day pick next year to trade up and get him. You're dreaming if you think Bush is going to fall to 4... NO has a wide smile on their face because now they could get multiple picks in 2006 and 2007 from 49ers for Bush. Expect them to pick him and then put him or Michael Bennett on the trading market. If Bush falls to #3, there's no doubt in my mind that Bush will be selected there. McNair has another year or two in him, especially if they added a big playmaker like Bush that they desperately need.
NO put alot of $$$ in Duece.. they really need ferguson to anchor the line and if they do trade with the niners the jets will take who they want.. ferguson.. BUt if saints take d-brick at 2 tennessee takes lienart or young at 3.. They locked mcnair out of their training facility and he wont be back with them.. Bush could realisticly fall to #4
You're kidding right? Pick 2= 2600 Pick 4= 1800, Pick 29= 640, Pick 35= 550, Pick 96 (last first day pick)= 116 That's 3,106 points on the value chart, we would be over paying by 506 points, or the equivalent of the 40th overall pick (second round). There is no way at all any GM would overpay that much, regardless of how good the player is or how much tey want him. The more likely scenario is numbers 4, 29, and 71 (or 2007 third rounder). Yes, we would still be overpayign by draft value chart points, but worth it for Reggie Bush.
It's been proven that when dealing with top 5 or 10 picks the value board means shit. The Giants overpayed by about 600 points to get Manning and when there is a huge dropoff between the prospects the pick is worth a lot more. Meaning, the 2 carries a lot more value when Reggie Bush falls because Reggie Bush is so much better then all of the prospects after him, easily bumping the "value" of the pick into the 3000s.
i think those 2nd and 3rd rounders are too important for our needs to give up.. id like to see brody coyle picked in the 3rd round and maybe a lawrence maroney in the late 1st if brick gets picked at 4
One question - if HOU was taking Bush is all mock drafts even after the big contract that a great running back in Dominack Davis got, why the hell is Deuce McAlister and Chad Brown stopping Bush from going to NO and TENN now?
