The way I see it, we don't need to get up to #2. We can still get Reggie Bush at four, assuming that no one trades up with New Orleans or Tennessee to get him. If we're trading up to number two, we are only leapfrogging Tennessee who has two capable runningbacks already. They won't take him. If New Orleans is willing to trade down, that means Reggie Bush can't be of much interest to them and I doubt they take him if they are willing to trade down for the right price. The Texans backed out of the Bush situation because they are locked into Domanick Davis. The Saints are locked into McCalister.
Who's Tennessee locked into? Exactly. He could fall to number four... but I'd rather trade up so we definitley get him.
i trhink we do i think the jets will trade 4 and 29 because the saints will realize thats the best choice for them.. also they want dbrick and they will still get him at 4 anyways... its a chess match as palentonio said.... i think its worth it to give up out 29 and sompthing else for bush1!!
I could certainly see New Orleans taking another player at #2. Reggie Bush will be the 3rd overall selection in the 2006 draft however, if he's not the 2nd overall selection. It's just a fact.
Too big of a risk at 4...gotta move up to 2 and get him. If we sit back someone else will trade up and take him.
I was kind of thinking the same thing. The Saints need defensive help, plus they have McCalister. And the Titans have Kris Brown, but more importantly need a QB more than they need a RB, and they'll have a chance to selece the top player at the position. Thats why I believed if the Texans decided to select Mario, Bush could fall to #4. Still, I'm not sold on the Saints passing up on him. I think if a reasonable trade offer is presented, we should jump on it.
I can see him falling to 2, and then to 3, but I dont think the Titans would pass on him. Chris Brown and Travis Henry are merely solid backups...nothing more, IMO. We can trade up to 2 for Bush, or stay at 4 and take Leinart or Davis
Even if the Titans decided not to take Bush, they would EASILY trade down to 5 (GB) or 6 (SF) and still get get Vince Young AND early round picks. There is NO chance Bush falls to 4. The Jets HAVE to trade up if they want him.
Question, if Bush falls to #3 (who will go at #2?) and Tenn takes him, What player will fall to #4? Lets stand pat and see what happens. I have a feeling that somebody is going to want our #4 pick REAL bad and be willing to pay through the nose for it.
Yup. GB is the team to watch for. Reggie Bush would completely turn their season around, whereas for the Jets he would only offer minor relief in his first year.
If New Orleans passed on Bush with the #2, there would be more rioting there than after Hurricane Katrina.
New Orleans will not take Bush... they won't put that much money into the RB position. Trading out is the only option for them. Hopefully, that's where we come in! GET IT DONE!!! GET BUSH!!!!!
If Houston was "set" with Dominack Davis and all the mocks had them still taking Bush, why would NO or TENN be any different, both with worse RBs then Davis? If Bush falls to 4 it would be the biggest upset in sports history... there's no way.
I think we would need to get to #2. With Deuce coming off a major knee injury, he probably would regain his old form for at least another year, if ever. Even if he did make it back healthy, Bush could be used in a 2 back backfield or be split out as a WR. He poses mismatches no matter where you put him. So assuming New Orleans can't trade out of #2, they'll take Bush. However, I believe they prefer to trade out of #2. Their problem is they only have 2 possible spots to where they can trade and get Ferguson or Hawk. They can try to get us to bid against San Francisco, but we have leverage knowing they can't get either of their targets at #6. New Orleans is trying to go by the pick value chart to maximize their potential value. However, in reality the pick values vary from year to year. In this case (from the Saints and Jets perspective) both teams know that the value difference between #2(Bush) and #4 (Ferguson/Hawk) is less than the difference between #4 (Ferguson/Hawk) and #6(Davis/Justice). Because of this, we should be getting a "discount" when compared to the value chart. I wouldn't offer the Saints more than #4 and #35 for #2. Ideally though, I'd offer: #4, our 3rd rounder, the Edwards 4th rounder, and next years 2nd rounder (to maintain flexibility because I like the prospect of the rumored Baltimore deal if Cutler (or Justice) were to fall).
