Rivers, Jackson and Sproles will be locked up soon I'd imagine, McNeil will probably be franchised. They may let Merriman and Castillo hit the open market, esp in Merriman's case if English ends up playing really well. Chambers will be 32 in 2010 and they have some young receivers who could step right into his spot.

A DE rotation of Ellis, Douglass and Seymour would be awesome.

Neal is the only one who's eligible for UFA after this season that's a starter. O'callahan (3 yrs) and Britt (4) would be shy of the 6 years under uncapped year. Johnson, is depth.

I think the Pats are gonna sign Wilfork (and Mankins) and let Seymour go to the highest bidder next year.

As good as Seymour is, and he is very good, he always seems to have a nagging injury and he disappears some weeks. In their last SB run the Pats played without Seymour for the last 3 regular season games and 3 playoff games, and hardly missed a beat with Jarvis Green and Mike Wright on the field.

If Merriman stays healthy this season... plays well, and becomes an FA.... Whatever contract he gets is going to be HUGE, dude is a beast. Wouldn't be surprised if he got more money than Haynesworth did this offseason.

It would also be old. I'm all for drafting some 3-4 DE talent next year. Its badly needed. Signing a big ticket FA to rotate in would not be the best move. We need to start conserving money to resign our draftees.

Signing a guy like Luis Castillo wouldn't be a bad move...

You're right though, it's time to start building through the draft - hopefully UDFA Zach Potter will prove he deserved to be drafted.

Honestly Jeaux, if I was a Raiders fan, I'd be praying there's a labor agreement in place. This way, Crazy Al can start with a clean slate and replace a few positions on that Raiders roster with talented Chargers FA leftovers. I would start by throwing half-ownership of the organization to Philip Rivers and cutting your loses with Jamarcus Busstell.

Sure, joe. My NY education is really slowing me down. If only I chose to wear makeup and dress like a skeletal pirate.

He isn't a UFA if it's an uncapped year.

Yea we know the New York public education system is top notch. If you dress up like a pirate, how are you going to be able to change your diaper.

As the chargers fans correctrly pointed out Luis castillo did sign an extension with the Chargers already. That is the only freeagent on that list they have signed so far.

There will be a "Final 8" rule in 2010.

"The rule will restrict the final eight teams in the playoffs from signing free agents. The final four teams shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract except for players who acquired their status by being cut or were on the final four team when their contract expired. Playoff teams five thru eight get a break to sign one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 and an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following years.

There is a mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each one of their own unrestricted free agents who sign with another club as long as they don't spend more than what their own lost player received from his new club.

For all practical purposes, free agency will not have any teeth in 2010 and close to 200 players hoping to hit a big pay day will have to wait at least a year and risk injury."
