2 former rutgers players looking to get a chance with the nyjets. i wish them the best. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/05/when_jets_starting_inside_line.html
nice article. not sure if this article was posted, but it has alot more info on Westerman http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2009/05/rutgers_product_jamaal_westerm.html
The Westerman thing leaves me conflicted, I don't know whether to be happy that he's working out or frustrated that a UDFA defensive end switched to linebacker is already better than Gholston.
I don't give a fuck if he was undrafted, if he's better than Gholston, then fuck it. Put Westerman in there and let Gholston bench press his way back into the rotation.
Haven't heard anything about how he did at this week's OTAs, but last week he reportedly played well. I think he got a few hurries and a would be sack
good to see the FO do their homework and get a kid with potential to make the squad from UFA. if he can add anything, from special teams to starting ILB, its a steal.
Not that it was Ryan who found him but Bart Scott was also an UDFA... not to say that Westerman will turn out to be a pro bowler but some productivity and an UDFA making the squad will be a great start to the Ryan tenure. As far as Gholston my feeling always was he wasn't going to be good but hoping he was. At this point I don't even care if he is on the team. The way he played last year he may have well not been.
