Sorry, but the Bills don't have "the best" anything. What good is having two WR's that can run fast if you have an Oline that couldn't block a pile of dirt? Sorry Bill fans I know every year you think your team is better than it is, evidence...look who started a thread about Bills players getting credit. However, Trent Edwards is nothing special and his Oline will be watching him pull turf out of his facemask all season long. 1) Fitzgerald/ Boldin 2) Moss / Welker 3) Ward/ Holmes
Honestly after watching them last year I think Fitz and Boldin are the best duo in the league. With Kurt Warner tossing to them that's an insane offense.
Fitzgerald is the best receiver in the NFL right now for pure impact. He's like a Randy Moss that actually gives a shit.
I'll be anxious to see what Cutler does with a receiving corpse that makes the Jets look loaded. Marshall and Royal I think are in the discussion, if not ahead of Ward/Holmes
Nothing personal, but I've noticed Bill fans love to start threads about how good their players, team or upcoming season are or are gonna be. You can do what you like, but the majority of fans in the AFC east think the Bills are a joke and till they get rid of RW and DJ they will continue to be that kinda team. I just really wonder what it is Bill fans see when they look at the way their team is managed and the moves they make. Perfect example: Drafting Maybin, seriously as bad as the Bills have been they go out and draft a kid with little starting experience, who weights wayyyyy to little to play DE especially when you consider how big the Olines are in the NFL. IMO, Maybin will be a pick that comes back to haunt the Bills as are many for the Bills the last half decade. The Bills don't draft anyone to replace Peters and they go out and sign one of the biggest malcontnets in the NFL. As if that weren't bad enough the Bills are coming off three 7-9 seasons in a row and if it weren't for signing TO who did the Bills add in FA to help their team improve? A backup lineman? All I can say is the Bills are nothing but a train wreck.
Yeah, I just think Big Ben is a far better QB than anyone the Broncos have. It's like having a Mustang 5.0 GT, great car, but it isn't much good without wheels.
Maybin is expected to have little impact this year. He will be situational. He'll have time to learn and bulk up for next year. Size of the O-line means crap in the NFL. Last year, we had one of the biggest lines in the NFL and look where that got us? Joey Porter is what, 255 lbs? I know he's not a DE, but weight is so overrated. Freeney is another one that was criticized for being light and he seems to be doing just fine. T.O., at the very least, will shake this team up. The BILLS have been a hun-drum team with DJ &Co. Most BILLS fans want a fire lit under their ass. That's what T.O. brings. Either the players respond, or they fail. Either which way, they make the playoffs, or DJ & Co. is gone. I am trying to figure out what people don't understand about this. It's not rocket science folks. As far as replacing Peters, I have one question, did you see his level of play last season? He was horrendous. Sure in 2006 he had a nice season, but has regressed ever since. Langston Walker filled in admirably for him at the start of last season. Sure I want a stud LT, but Peters was hardly it. Philly got taken in the deal. And the "backup lineman" filled in for the Panthers, who by the way were a top ranked rushing attack. They never skipped a beat. Coaching is a huge issue and I wanted DJ & Co. gone last year, but I don't own the team. I can only hope he figures it out this year. I'm so glad I get to speak with the voice of the majority of the fans. I guess your fragile ego stems from the 1-15 season you had two seasons ago. Sure you won the AFC East last year. Congrats. Good luck with that when the Wildcat goes the way of the dinosaur and you're left with a roster of tweeners that won't find a roster spot in a pro-style offense. I wonder what the DOLPHINS excuse will be then?
Seriously? You're relying on T.O. of all people to light a fire under the team's ass? Problem with T.O. is if he decides to bring your team down, he'll start with the head n brains of the offense. He'll chew up Edwards and spit him out. Then the rest goes downhill from there. But hey, at least you'll get DJ&Co. out, right? I guess that seems like a decent gamble I suppose. So T.O. is gone and you are left with a hole at WR. That year Evans will be turning 30 and Edwards' will be going into his 4th year looking to put an above average season together. Maybe the Bills will need to consider finding a new QB even. Best case scenario, you maybe sneak in to the Playoffs and lose badly in the first round. JD&Co. stay, and T.O. gets re-signed to a 3 year deal which gives him the green light to act like he owns the Bills. Wait...and that's the best case scenario?!? Ouch. Good luck guys.
Well obviously, and this goes for all NFL teams, the best case scenario is you win the Super Bowl. Did anyone see the Cardinals making the Super Bowl last year? Even at the start of the 2008 playoffs nobody really had them going anywhere in the playoffs. And they almost won last year. You never know. And the DOLPHINS made the playoffs and were bounced badly in the first round. I don't see that affecting the pride that DOLPHIN fans feel. As far as T.O. he's 35. If he signs a 3 year deal, he'll retire as a BILL. If he does that, then my guess is that he would WANT to retire as a BILL. The only way he stays with the BILLS and he doesn't want to be here is if we franchise him, and I don't see the team doing that if they feel he's not happy. Be honest, if your squad was 7-9 for three straight seasons, you would be praying for your team to move in some direction, ANY direction, other than the middle of the pack. It never ceases to amaze me as to the venom that is spit towards the BILLS. Sure it's been 16 years since the last BILLS Super Bowl and 9 since the last playoff appearance, but when was the last time the DOLPHINS were in the Super Bowl? 1984? and the only time the JETS were there? 1968? Be real guys, your track record isn't stellar. The only AFC east team to boast anything about their teams success are the PATRIOTS. Their glory days are winding down, but not over yet. They will be tough until one of the bottom three can dethrone them. I don't see a clear-cut favorite from the BILLS, JETS or the DOLPHINS, so since all have a shot I'll wear my BILLS hat with pride. Sling if you want, but Crow is a bitter tasting dish.
To be honest, I have no beef with the Bills cause they haven't really been relevant to the Jets in the Division. And by that I'm not trying to get a shot in on you, I'm just calling it how I see it. The thing that bothers me is how T.O. and Evans all of a sudden elevate the Bills to some new stratosphere. T.O. is the biggest catalyst for that team next year. If he's hot (like I said earlier) he could sneak u in the playoffs, but if he's cold, you'll really miss those 7-9 seasons. I guess we'll see how it turns out.
Trust me, if the result of a cold T.O. this season is 0-16, I will be dancing in the streets that DJ & Co. is gone. I just hope if that's the case, then Cowher is still available. I don't want RW to go bargain shopping for the next round of crap. He would need to get a proven winner in there as HC.
The reason the Bills are where they are is that they keep spending their 1 pick on WR's, RB's and CB's. That's kind of a guarantee of spinning your wheels over time. There's nothing wrong with doing that if those are the holes, but when you keep doing that and not filling the holes longterm you're in trouble. No team should ever spend a 1 pick on a WR or CB until they are strong on both sides of the line and have a QB in the fold. You're just wasting time otherwise.
Case in point trading their best OL, Jason Peters a 2 time Pro Bowler, as he's just coming into his prime. One of the best left tackles in football. This is why the Bills are where they are.
You mean the guy that gave up 11.5 sacks in 13 games in 2008 (which by the way lead the league)? The same guy who couldn't create a push on short yardage situations in 2008? The guy who admitted that his contract dispute affected his play on the field? The guy who held out until the day before the season opener, then admitted that it took him until game 6 until he felt that he was back in top form (which the BILLS were at 5-1 at that point)? What was their record with the 2 time pro-bowler in top form? 2-8. I don't really miss the guy. It's posts like this that make me understand that alot of NFL fans don't do their homework, they just regurgitate what the talking heads at ESPN spew forth. In two years, you should revisit this post when EAGLES fans are throwing batteries at Peters. He's going to get eaten alive in the NFC East.
You don't miss your best offensive lineman? Wow. Then you obviously don't have a lot to look forward to. Your team sucked because you have a shitload of holes. The one hole you didn't have until this offseason was Left Tackle. Your Qb is pitiful and I saw him throw like 3 or 4 Int's in the 1st quarter of a Monday night game last year (in the other teams red zone no less). The announcers even said that Trent Edwards was downright awful. Here's a quote from a guy who knows a thing or two about offensive tackles. "Jason Peters is the best left tackle in the NFL." Quote from Andy Reid. I'd take Reid's astute judgment over any Bills fan anyday of the week. He has 6 NFC Champ. games to back it up. The Bills have years of mediocrity yet they still act like they have a clue how to build their team. Those Pro Bowl voters don't know shit either. They must have just voted Peters to the Pro Bowl twice because they felt bad that the rest of the Bills roster sucked. Right? Your homerism is grotesque. Your FO completely screwed up letting Peters go. There's no way to justify you being a better team without him.
Well this will be fun, first of all you're trying to convince me the Bills drafted a player with their number 11 pick to be a little used situational player? Hmmmm, ask the Jet fans how that worked out with Gholston. BTW, that BS excuse should be all any normal fan would need to see the problem with their team. You also had one of the least talented Olines and poorly coached lines, don't you think that had a lot to do with their piss poor showing? I do! Just because you're big doesn't mean you're talented and well coached. You talk about Joey Porter...why? He's an OLB not a DE. Maybin was drafted as a DE, he is expected to line up against the best LT in the league and put pressure on the QB, otherwise he wouldn't have been drafted that high. But you go ahead and hold your breath. As if that weren't bad enough Bill fans are now comapring Maybin to Freeny, classic. TO has been a shithead everywhere he's played. He doesn't bring the kinda fire the Bills need. The Bills need team unity, not lockeroom seperation. Bill fans constantly live in some other world a world that makes little sense and has little logic. You make it seem as you landed Jerry Rice. TO is a cancer, but you're trying to convince others (more like convince yourself) that TO is a good thing. TO is talented, but he's old and his attitude sucks not to mention he drops more passes than any WR in the league, add that to a team that is very limited in talent and an awful coaching staff and you have a recipe for disaster. It's not rocket science dude! I think Peters was playing poorly because he wasn't being paid what he thought he was worth. He could have held out and lost money, but he decided to continue to play collect a paycheck and wait for a new contract, trade or release. He got what he wanted. He will not be the same player in Philly. He is going to a far more talented team that has a chance to actually go to the SB. He got more money and he will have no issues like the ones he had with the Bills the last two seasons. You say Philly got taken in the deal, I think Philly has a much higher level of success for a reason. Your bias disgruntled opinion has little value in this argument. As for your "backup lineman" wasn't Dereck Dockery supposed to be a savior for the Bills? Big, strong, loads of talent and for some stupid amount of money? How'd that work out for ya? I remember when the Bills signed him and Bill fans were "as usual" boasting about how dominant their Oline was gonna be, yeah another laugher. But now the Bills signing backup Olineman will be a great move? I guess whenever the Bills sign someone it's a guaranteed success story, in Bill fans minds anyways. I'm not the majority, I just read a lot from the within the division and the "MAJORITY" of AFC east fans feel the Bills are one serious messed up organization and for good reason. Sorry it hurts your feelings, take it up with the Bills. Good lord, if you're gonna try to insult, at least come up with something better than that. The Bills were 7-9 three yeas in a row, Miami and the "wildcat" won the division, had a record +/- ratio in turnovers, a record season turnaround in wins and had a QB that was left for dead by his previous team only to go to a division rival and have the best season of his career, culiminating in a playoff berth and division title against the very team that let him go...IN THEIR HOUSE!!!! Yeah, it sucks to be a Dolphin fan, I'm just trying to muddle through.
