if there was a way to listen to a yankee game on the radio and not hear that guy talk, i would pay any amount of money, Sirus XM you name it, but they all just retransmit him. I literally cant listen to the games cuz of him
Wow. Last night Sterling had a very... unfortunate... mixup. He called Matsui's (a Japanese player) home run an A-Bomb, thinking Rodriguez hit it.
Not just because I'm a Dodger fan, but Vin Scully is still far and away the best--it's not even close. If you get a chance, listen to him call a game, it's unbelievable. He does it by himself and tells you about the game and the players, that's it. He doesn't over-analyze, doesn't try to teach you how to hit or pitch, just background on the players and the game and he lets it breathe. You can actually hear the sounds of the ballpark almost like you're there. It's so simple it's amazing nobody else even tries doing it that way.
I'm not a fan. He's way too boring for me. If I want to watch a documentary I will, and that's what his style is like.
I guess it's a matter of different taste. To me it's like sitting at the game with your grandfather, he's seen decades of history and can coherently tell you about it in the context of the game. The other night he was discussing how the umpires' signals changed with the advent of televised baseball and evolved over time. That's something I'd have never thought of, but it was relevant to a play that happened in the game.
