ESPN crawler is reporting Jason Jaylor is returning to the Dolphins.

It is clear that being home with family was his #1 priority, and not being on a Superbowl contender... unless he plans to play for at least 3 or 4 year.

The Dolphins are certainly heading in the right direction, but the schedule and lack of element of surprise will have them taking a tiny step back this year. Just my opinion of course. 9-7 if all goes well.

IMO, if Taylor's suitors had been Miami and any other team instead of Miami and New England, the Fins wouldn't have brought him back.

This is a good signing no matter what in my opinion. We get JT back for a great hometown discounted price, and we only have to commit one year to him. If all goes well, Taylor playing along with Porter / Roth / and Wake should make for a very solid / formidable pass rush....

I know, we wont be as good, we'll be better. We might not win 11 games / the division, but we'll be a better football team...

I'm not worried about it. Henne is a talented young QB, and I'd be just as comfortable with him starting as I am in Pennington....

henne will be good next season not the one coming up. Still has some bugs to work out in my opinion. but atleast you are very optimistic....I remember after the 06 season i was like YEA JETS SWEET 10-6 NEXT SEASON 12-4 YEA!! but then they went 4-12. it's wat pennington does...just don't get too excited

If he has an offensive line, he doesn't go 4-12.

    He has one in Miami.

Unbelievable!!!!! $1.5 million?????? I am surprised that Taylor even considered it.

He left Miami making $14 million, after he won the Walter Payton NFL Player of the Year Award.

Parcells peaks in season one wherever he goes. The only thing left for him to do in Miami is fuck up the cap, alienate all of the young talent for favreish players and quit.

MIAMI (AP) -- Jason Taylor has rejoined the Miami Dolphins.

The 34-year-old linebacker signed a $1.5 million, one-year contract Wednesday with Miami, said his agent, Gary Wichard.

Taylor played his first 11 seasons with Miami before being traded to the Washington Redskins. He was released by Washington last winter after one injury-plagued season.

The New England Patriots courted Taylor, but he wanted to return to South Florida, where he still lives.

"My heart has always been in Miami, and so I'm truly excited to call myself a Dolphin once again," Taylor said in a statement. "I was presented with a number of different opportunities, but in the end the combination of this being the best situation for my family, my love for this community and my tremendous loyalty to a great organization made this an easy decision."

The Redskins released Taylor after he turned down a chance to play another season with them for $8.5 million. He could give Miami's pass rush a much-needed boost at outside linebacker opposite Joey Porter, who led the AFC with 17.5 sacks last year.

Taylor was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the Dolphins in 2006 and made the Pro Bowl six times. After the regime led by Bill Parcells took over the Dolphins early last year, Taylor was traded to Washington for two draft picks.

Taylor, who missed only four games in his 11 seasons in Miami, was unable to stay healthy in Washington. He sprained his knee during the preseason and hurt his calf in a win over Arizona on Sept. 21. Taylor required an operation to have blood drained from his calf and a second procedure a month later.

The calf injury hampered Taylor much of the season, and he struggled to fit into a Redskins' defensive scheme that gave him less freedom than he had with the Dolphins. He had only 3 1/2 for the Redskins, his lowest total since 1999.

    ---

Seems to me like he might have made more money by just taking Parcells deal in the first place.

JT mentioned down here he was thinking of playing another 3 years. Maybe he plans on staying with the Dolphins in hopes of a SB run.

You can only make what is offered. I'm sure the Pats weren't offering any more (probably about the same), and they were the only teams interested.

There were contract stipulations that the Redskins wanted to add to the contract that Taylor was unwilling to abide by. Off-season program, etc...
