You and me both. Along with Sean Smith and Evrett Brown, Sanchez was one of my favorite prospects entering the draft. Having him as a Jet is just too sweet. If he pans out as a franchise QB I'll be completly overjoyed.
the Jets had another 1st round QB who had knee problem.... if I could only remember that name...hmmmm
my guess is that its going to be a 6 year deal, my guess is that its going to be 6 years 69 million with incentives up to 75 million. god thats just a very scary scary thought. My money is on the money being garunteed at about 36 million. even scarier....
I can not disagree that it is a scary thought. When you draft top end QB talent its not only a risk of a draft choice but a huge chunk of money. Here's hoping the Jets are rihgt about Sanchez.
6 years, 60M pasos, 20M tacos garuanteed. as far as sanchez being a bust, well we already endured the bowling ball with knives at the 4 spot and VG last year at the 6 spot, neither contributing a dime and we are still a damn good team, so i don't see the sanchez thing as a 'huge' make or break for the team for years.
If we go 10-6 and Sanchez completes 60%+ of his passes with 18+ TD's and 15- Int's he'll have had a great first season and nobody will be complaining. Obviously you can't compare Peyton Manning and what he was asked to do his rookie season with what Sanchez will be asked to do next year, because the Jets are giving all the signals that they will run, run, run to take the pressure off of him, however it's worth noting that the Colts went 3-13 the year before they had Manning and 3-13 his rookie season. All Sanchez has to do is keep the ship afloat and he's had a successful rookie season. That would be 9-7 with him not screwing up all over the place, just like Manning's rookie season.
You'd think that if you were going to take the time to make an offensive joke about him, you'd at least spell pesos right. Oh, and a peso is worth about 8 cents, or $4.8 million for the contract. Even at a quarter a taco, you're guaranteeing more than that contract is worth at $5 million for the tacos. Horrible economic policy there.
He'll get more then #4 I think the fact that he is a QB will upset the slotting and pay factor to a degree. I believe his contract will be worth more then at least the number three and four picks ahead of him.
No way the Jets only lock him up for 5 years. They're going to get 6 and they're going to pay top dollar to do it and if he works out they'll pinch themselves in a few years to see if it's a dream. If they give him 5 years now and he works out they'll have to re-open the contract negotiations in 3 years and pay through the nose anyway. Getting that 4th year to just watch him play before the pressure builds is worth it's weight in gold.
I the Jets only offer 5 yrs, Sanchez won't report. They have to put 6 yrs on the table and not mess around with this.
1st round rookies typically fight for shorter contracts, rather than longer. They want to be able to hit free agency as soon as possible in order to get that second big contract.
whatever he gets is too much cuz rookies make too much. its ridiculous. i just hope they can get away with giving him no more than 30 mil guaranteed. we can somewhat eat that if he sucks (which he wont. i got faith in him)
that would be devastating... i just dont think anyone thought gholston would look this bad...i mean he looks like one of those dudes who thinks he can play ball by just working out in the gym. what a bust.
Why are we even talking about this? Lets talk about how much money Gholston is getting to do dick. Let the kid play first before we talk about how much he is making.
