I mean really we dont have a proper tackle which is seriously the most important position when converting to 3-4. Also it is not sure if vilma can succeed as an inside linebacker in a 3-4 because he is quite small.

Does this mean that we will be easing into 3-4 over two years?? I have read it somewhere that we will be something like 40% 3-4 and 60% 4-3 this year and then move into it more.

Does this also suggest that we NEED to draft Haloti Ngata(excuse the spelling) since i dont really see any other DTs in this years draft. I think most people already believe that we will be drafting some linebacker such as hawk, carpenter or a lower lb to fill our need in a 3-4 defence system.

Your thought in general about us at 3-4

Not unless you get a NT who can eat up 2 blocks on every play. Otherwise a guard will pancake one of the linebackers and the RB will be averaging 5 yards a carry against you. Maybe Mangini can help coach-up pouha...or not.

It will however help out your offense. They will get more experience vs 3-4 defense's and you play a bunch...

We could still pickup Grady Jackson to fill that major need in the 3-4. I know he's older, but even if it's only for a year it would keep our hands from being tied in the draft. It seems very odd we haven't addressed NT yet if Mangini is planning on going 3-4.

I like Grady Jackson. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Green and White.

no we cant, which is why we will have a hybrid defense, you dont try to force your players into a system or philosophy you want. the first thing any real coach does is evaluate their pros and cons of their rosters abilities and then script plays and systems to take advantage.

thats why our defense went through so many ups and downs under edwards, radical changes were always made. and it either payed off or bit us in the ass. we had no MO, we had people trying their hardest to do things they cant. (reed at NT is just the tip of the iceberg)

i would want to get a DE, Mario or Manny and run a 4-3. If not we could always use Thomas and see how he does. I dont think we have big enough NT's to run a 3-4.

Pouha is big enough and strong enough to occupy two blockers . lets give this guy a chane, maybe the 3-4 is the proper fit for him as opposed to the
    4-3
