...one of the best young franchise quarterbacks in the game, the Denver Broncos received:

Robert Ayers, an undersized 3-4 DE.

Alphonso Smith, a slow, undersized cornerback.

Part of a few-picks deal that netted Dick Quinn, a blocking tight end who's caught 12 passes in his career.

And Kyle Orton, an average quarterback.

Well, what do I know? All four could turn into superstars. Fucking doubt it.

Off to an amazing start, Mr. McDaniels.

EDIT: We should offer him Bryan Thomas for Tony Scheffler, straight up. I'm only half joking.

Smith is technically the Broncos first round pick next year, not the one they got from Chicago, but still, seems like a bad deal for them.

If they were dumb enough to trade their own pick and held onto Chicago's pick, this analysis gets more severe.

I'd put the Bears' floor and the Broncos' ceiling both at seven wins next year. That would allow for a shitload of injuries to the Bears and an infinite amount of Hochuli for the Broncos, too. I honestly believe this trade knocked the Broncos into the perennial fuck-up territory occupied by the Lions and Raiders.

I think it was the right move. It sends a bad message to your fans if you trade the Bears pick. I guess they are trying to show confidence in themselves, but I agree Chicago should do better.

Ayers will be a 3-4 olb in my opinion. I also think he can be a star in this league, he was known to line up at every position in the front 7 almost like a terrell suggs

Fair enough. He's not an undersized 3-4 lineman, he's a fat (270+ lbs) slow (4.9 forty) weak (18 reps) outside linebacker, playing behind(?) Elvis Dumervil and Jarvis Moss.

It will be interesting to see how Orton performs with better weapons in Denver. That will be the key I believe.

But I am starting to see why people think McDaniels is a screwup. I didn't agree at first.

McDaniels is brilliant, this draft was further evidence of that. I can't believe they traded their first for Alphonso Smith wow

I like the Alphonso Smith pick, you don't become 10th all time in career INTs without knowing how to play. And I think its ludicrous for Jet fans to say 5'9" is undersized for CB when one of our starting safeties is 5'8'' and getting cyber BJs from half the forum.
