this is who we drafted in the 2nd round since 2002 2008 - no pick 2007 - David Harris 2006 - Kellen Clemens 2005 - Mike Nugent, Justin Miller 2004 - no pick 2003 - Victor Hobson 2002 - Jon McGraw outside of David Harris, we've drafted garbage in the second round. If all it took was a bunch of backups, a mediocre starter and a 2nd we wouldve probably blown on a whack player, then sign me up
I don't know what this is supposed to mean......are you saying that because we have not recently drafted a great player in round 2, we should always look to trade our second round pick? That's not really logical....you say we'd have probably blown the pick on a whack player, but you can't legitimately assume that, it doesn't hold up
no he wasnt garbage but the OP has a point... we shouldnt necessarily be assuming our second round pick woulda been DHarris... more likely coulda been an average roster man.
And with this post you solidify your position as Don's second. Hobson was last seen keeping the Cardinals bench warm...come to think of it, I didn't even see him doing that...he must've fallen off from the pressure.
im not saying that, but im realistic in the fact that we have X amount of picks and were not gonna hit a homerun with everyone of them. Case in point, our previous second round choices havent panned out. Its not gonna hurt to trade it for a player we're really high on and can make a world of difference on our team if he pans out. I believe in quality over quantity.
It's gotta be a good deal because I'm from the quality depth school of thought and I'm not blinking at what the Jets gave up for Sanchez. We got a franchise QB prospect for 2 draft picks and 3 roleplayers. I mean we didn't even give up a player that we knew was going to start for Ryan's defense next year.
No, but people were acting as though our 2nd round pick was going to be a surefire starter and adequately fill a need. However, those 2nd rounders illustrate that there's a ton of uncertainty attached with every pick. The only tangible, certain things we gave up were the 3 players in the deal, and none of them were highly valuable commodities.
FYP and a quick question: Would a potential franchise QB count as a "highly valuable commodity" just curious.
Hobson wasn't "Garbage" but i can see your point and i agree most our 2nd rounders have been shit but i think since Tanny took over its been and will get better. (See David Harris)
