This sucks ass. Papelbon would definitely blow a 1 run lead. Now atleast 2, probably 3, game over.

I am beyond pissed off at this team I had to turn it off. Teixiera is a fuckin bum waste,Rivera is a washed up relic,Girardi is retarded and the ump couldn't favor boston more. Oh,and our bullpen sucks. Great way to end up with empty seats in the new stadium.

Everything was going great, we make that steal of a trade to get Sanchez and the Yanks are up 6-0 w/ possibly our best pitcher and then it all falls apart for the Yanks. Just an amazingly bad game. Hopefully Andy salvages the final game for us.

Maybe. You said it last year, and the team had one of the best pens in the majors.

The thing is, bullpen arms are notoriously fickle year to year. It's a crap shoot to some degree. The biggest advantage the Yankees have is in the number of pieces they can move in and out, if they wanted to.

Veras is out of options, but they're going to give up on him sooner or later if he keeps pitching so inconsistently. And Marte could be an expensive bust (which is why I don't like giving multi-year/multi-million dollar contracts to relievers)... he's still injured or not right after the WBC (thanks Bud Selig!). But other than that, they can option any of the other arms down (with the possible exception of Ramirez... not sure about his option situation).

Coke has had six solid outings in a row, although the drop in his velocity over last year is slightly concerning. Albaladejo missed his pitch to Lowell (by a lot) and paid for it big time... but has been otherwise solid this year. I still really like Robertson, and think he can do well. I have no problems with anyone from this group.

And here's where the Yanks can replace the ineffective relievers with guys like Melancon, Jackson, Kroenke, Aceves, Cox, Tomko, and eventually guys like Mitre, Kontos, Wordekemper, Whelan, etc... the team just needs to have the balls to shuffle the 40-man roster a bit. I think they're just going to give it another few weeks before cutting the strings with guys like Veras (and possibly Edwar, depending on option situation).

Losing Bruney hurts, obviously. Having Sanchez injured (again) to the point that the team released him also hurts... but the (sucky, inconsistent) pen you see now is not the pen you'll see in July. I would almost guarantee that.

And, of course, not many teams aren't going to have a pen exposed if they're used for fifteen plus innings in three straight games.

The other thing I try to remember... as much as I hate watching them lose the past two games like that... is that after a brutal April in terms of lack of days off, number of games played on the road, all played without their best player, the worst they could be leaving Fenway is .500. If you told me that at the beginning of the season, I would have taken that in a heartbeat.

Bullpen? I think our biggest problem right now is our rotation.

another example of how the Red Sox have been playing hard for 5 years now and the yankees have their heads up their ass.....its embarrassing. Everything that Yankee fans thought Girardi would bring to this team is missing. Girardi is a complete failure and you cant build a team with rotiserie stats. Its garbage.

I am about done with this loser team. It's been a few years, and it's the same shit. I've been watching the Yankees since i was little, and they have pissed me off before, but there is something special about the way they do it now. Maybe it;s the money they spend ,i don't know.

^welcome my friend. Its the same careless cunting attitude for years now. Some on this board think baseball is simply a game of stats and the intangibles dont make a difference...and theres no such thing as clutchness etc....is complete bullshit.

It's funny, because i think the yankees have a better team than Boston, and we actually should be going for the sweep tonight. But what Boston has is the right attiutude, and they come from behind a lot more than we do. I never feel confident when the yankees are behind like I used to,hell,i don't even feel comfortable with a 6 run lead and the Jets are drafting Sanchez and everything seems to be going my way.

Yep, the Red Sox are sure playing cocky right now. And why not? So far the Yankees haven't given them much reason not to be cocky.
