It kind of sucks that only the "bigwigs" with big bucks for PSLs get to be privy to this type of stuff, but thanks Coach K for keeping us in the loop. It's nice to hear something directly from the team rather than the usual conjecture.

lol everyone can laugh if they want im not saying Tannenbaum was like hey i think the people who buy our tickets should run our team. Moving forward, I'm sure they were just letting the many people who spent a quarter mil a pop know their line of thinking going into this weekend and they fielded some questions.

i posted this simply because i thought itd be interesting to get info straight from the mouth of Tannenbaum and their Scouting Director instead of another rumor from rotoworld or something.

I am just wondering who these people are that they can have a conversation with the GM on personnel matters? We should all be so lucky

BTW he didn't say anything specific about Freeman?

So, I'm guessing Sanchez, Pettigrew, Britt/Nicks/etc., maybe Moreno.

that wass my main issue, but he said they wouldnt discuss specific players (although the scouting director kept bringing up TE, the one who loves Pettigrew) but Tanny definitely stuck behind Kellen Clemens when asked about the QB.

thats why Im guessing Clemens is their guy or this is all smoke and mirrors for a Sanchez trade up. as long as they dont get held hostage for the trade.

if anyone is worried about Josh Freeman in a Jets uni id say relax. for those of you who want him, keep your fingers crossed

Tannys beyond strong endorsement for Clemens leads me to believe this. but then again it could be smoke and mirrors.

you guys take what you will from it but I doubt Freeman ends up a Jet.

Thanks Coach for the update. I feel the same. Since Tanny says we are set at QB and wont address is unless value comes up, it means Sanchez. Freeman will not be value at the 17th. If Freeman falls near the 40s, take a shot I say but a 3-4/4-3 hybrid would be great. Im thinking NT will be picked on the first day as we are planning on 'not' relying heavily on Jenkins this yr.

    My two cents.

Just noticed your sig and took a look at the Javorskie Lane highlights - geez, that guy is an absolute steamroller - I thought that Iowa State dude's head was gonna pop off. I realize that he's a fullback, but a guy like that could create a serious "Thunder and Lightning" combo with LW. I haven't noticed anyone else bring him up here - any clue as to whether the Jets are interested and where he might fall in the draft? Don't mean to be too off-topic but I figured since you're pulling for him maybe you have some insight.

Lane was actually a RB until last year when his number dropped off. They changed their coach and O style which didnt work out well for him. I like Jehuu the guy we picked up last year but wouldnt mind a 7th rounder on Javorskie.

  11. Thanks for the info coach K.

I like pettigrew but dont want him unless we trade down.

Thanks for the info, Coach.....I was getting tired of rotoworld rumors as well. It's refreshing to hear some perspective directly from the horse's mouth (as in..the Jets brass)

I was thinking the same thing. Is there a punchline coming at some point?

I made a thread on Lane some time ago... as a power back Shonn greene is better but Lane (Texas A&M Height: 6-0. Weight: 285. Projected 40 Time: 4.76. Projected Round (2009): 6-7) is a monster truck running staright at you! Talk about wearing defences down :p

Funny audio about him -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQRR-bsHEpo&feature=related

Good stuff, Coach K. Great info. I'm not sure I totally agree with your take on their approach to the draft. If we're going to run a true hybrid, we need another DT that is an effective starter. I think they might draft a day 1 DT.

I like all of this on Clemens and I especially like "trade up for Sanchez or NO QB at all." Makes sense. There is zero value in getting another complete unkown like Clemens was and/or Ratliff is. Clemens is much further along 9n experience now than any QB you're going to draft, so if you're not reaching for one of the best, don't do it at all this year.

    Good move.

well what i said was offense early by that i meant rounds 1 and 2. if they could nab someone like Ron Brace or Fili Moala in the 2nd or 3rd rounds than go for it. or maybe they feel Douglas or Coleman could rotate in at DT in a 4-3 set and they plan on doing it more than an occasional drive.

and i completely agree with a day 1 DT. regardless what system we run we need someone capable behind jenkins.

and i dont agree on a trade up for Sanchez, thats me personally but thats the feeling I get from them. me personally I'm all for addressing the total lack of depth on our team and givng Clemens his fair shot. the flipside is, I definitely think Sanchez is a good prospect. id rather see us make a move for him than draft someone liek Josh Freeman/DHB/Percy Harvin, any other number of combinations i could see them blowing the draft. but like i said Clemens and the fair shot scenario, which Tannenbaum spoke clearly of, is the option im all for. ive been rooting for clemens since he came out of Oregon.

I liked that, too. The Chad lovers can have a new golden boy to worship, he seems like a very good leader, and unlike Stafford, he doesn't look like he spent the first 10 years of his life upside down with his head in a pickle jar.

I don't think Freeman is a good choice for us at 17. He's a boom/bust guy, and I'm not unconvinced Clemens can't do the job. If this were a different draft, I don't think Freeman is a first round pick. Now, if we were going to move down a little in the first round, collect an extra pick or two, and THEN grab Freeman, I would actually like that move. He has an extremely high ceiling, but I want more than just a developmental quarterback with our first round pick. If we can get Freeman, a 4th, and a 5th, then I'd be more than happy to take him. There is a lot to like about Freeman, but obviously, there are some other problems.

If we're talking about Mark Sanchez at 17, I would absolutely love it. I'd even be willing to move up for Sanchez if he falls past around the 9th pick. He is a franchise quarterback.

i read all the way down to this post thinking to myself is this really fuckin happening, is our gm really going to ask for the input of a meat supplier towards the draft? please god tell me this is not happening. i have seen in the last year that the FO HAS in fact listened to the fans and that really scares the living shit out of me. i am very confident that one of the reasons that mangina is no longer with us is the fan reacton...

i am absolutely befuddled and disgusted if this call is about anything more than catering. i really cant believe that it would actually be about the draft.
