I believe the Jets have already made their decision, and they will most certainly take a qb with the first pick. If Leinart's there, then that's an obvious choice. If he goes, I see the Jets trading down (perhaps with the Raiders who will then take Vince Young) in order to get Jay Cutler.
I don't know why I have this ominous feeling, but I do.
I think the Jets have already settled on Cutler as their QB of the future.
But if they trade down, and someone pulls a scheister-special, I can also see them settling on Vince Young.

The O-line can be assembled later, via 2nd/3rd rounders and beyond. D'Brick is not Orlando Pace, and certainly not somone they're going to spend big salary cap money on, after cutting offensive linemen to get under the cap.

It makes perfect sense to me. And that's all that matters to me.
With the first selection of the 2006 Draft, the NY Jets will select a QB!
Leinart, Cutler, Young in that order of preference and availability.

I would love Leinart at 4 or Cutler at 7...I just don't think the Jets are going to go down that path.

Anything is better than this crapola scenario...

One rumor yesterday: The Jets (No. 4) swap first-round picks with the Raiders (No. 7), who want a quarterback, and select Oregon NT Haloti NGata with the seventh pick. Such a move would raise questions about the future of DT Dewayne Roberston, who may not fit in a 3-4.
    -- New York Daily News

If we draft another d-linemen or te, the Jets should simply forfeit next year for a d0-over in the '07 draft.
NO D-linemen! You can thank DRob and BryThom for my exclamation point. And NO TE's! Mitchell, Brady and Becht=Gone to That TE-Well Too Often.

why would the raiders trade up to #4 to take Young? If the titans don't take him, neither would the packers or niners? Makes no sense. If the jets want him, they wont trade down.

The Packers are interested in a QB and there is a chance that we may take him too. Young falling to 7 is taking a big risk for them.

I would definately not be upset if the Jets traded picsk with the raiders and then got Cutler. As long as the Jets get no less than a 3rd round pick with this deal as well.

If Leinert is on the board at 4, the raiders (and probably others) wil come knocking............. the Raiders would go for it because the price will not be ridiculous and then someone else would not be able to trade up and take Leinert.

I think the Jets go to 7 and take who is left out of Hawk, Brick (or maybe even Williams) or Davis....... with a slight chance they would take Cutler.

Its anyone's guess what we do if Leinert is not on the board at 4.......

The packers arent interested in a QB. they drafted aaron rogers last year, theyr not gunna waste money on another 1st round QB especially when rogers hasnt had a chance to prove himself yet.

The Jets will select one of three players (unless Texas passes on Bush:

    Mario Williams
    D'Brickshaw Ferguson
    Vernon Davis

The WILL draft a QB on day one and it will be Clemens or Croyle.

ENOUGH with the Vernon Davis speculation! I'm not denying the guy's talented. But what sense does it make to draft a position that's not even in our top five needs? Do you think a TE was the problem with our Super Bowl-bound team last season?
Our offensive needs are: OL, QB, RB, WR and THEN..a TE. In that order.
That's not even raising defensive needs like DT, DE, OLB, CB.
Vernon Davis will only be a Jet if he's still there on Day Two. Otherwise, stop hurting your little brains with the most ridiculous suggestion this side of Vince Young.
Vernon Davis...hardly knew 'ya and never cared to.

I agree with the last statement. Clemens or Croyle would be nice. Give them a big ole Body guard for their blindside and these guys could become players...

    #4- D'Brickashaw Ferguson - LT
    #29- Thomas Howard- OLB
    #35- Joseph Addai- RB
3rd rounder- Brodie Croyle or Kellen Clemens- QB

your logic is faulty. just because the Jets drafted piece of sh-t first round TEs in the past doesn't mean it would be a mistake to take Vernon Davis.

Comparing Becht to Vernon Davis is like comparing a mistubishi to a Ferrari.
