I think it would be a huge plus for the Jets if Clowney turns out to be a legit WR this year - that would mean that we already have the "blazer" on the roster that everyone wants as a deep threat and we could then go after a wide receiver with some size to give us a threat in the red zone - best of both worlds.

Clowney's ability to execute routes sharply and stay unexpected will determine his success. Just runnin' down the field fast will be pretty easy to defend, otherwise.

Who is that WR? I'm just not knowledgable enough about college football so I was hoping someone could suggest which WR coming out this year is best in terms of size and good hands - a good red zone threat - rather than just fast or explosive.

Michael Crabtree, but he'll be drafted way before #17

Honestly, I haven't watched a whole lot of college ball in recent years myself, so I can't exactly speak on guys based on anything other than the stats sheets and highlights that I've watched. It would seem though that Ramses Barden out of Cal Poly is easily the biggest dude in the top dozen or so guys at 6'6" 230. DHB, Britt, Robiskie and Murphy are all also around the 6'2"-6'3" range (seems to vary quite a bit depending on where you look it up). I don't think we necessarily need to go strictly for size, but it would be nice to have a guy with some height to contrast with the average sized receivers that we currently have.

Edit: True, Crabtree is tall as well but should be long gone by the time we pick.

Louis Murphy is your guy, if we do go that way in the late first rounds, 3rd round should be able to nab him, physical guy, has nice speed to go with his good size.

Get a tall WR just for the red zone? Why not just draft Pettigrew?

I'm not saying that they should look for a guy based solely on height, I just think that if they were able to get a quality WR who also happened to be on the tall side it could help create some good mismatches, especially in the red zone where Keller will also have to be accounted for. Obviously I would hope that whatever WR they get would be able to contribute to the team in more ways than just in the red zone.

    Anybody for Marcus Henry?

We got a guy on the roster drafted last year who is 6' 4" and apparently has very good hands, based on the catches we've seen him make (in practice).

yep, that would make him Dante Stallworth.

That's nice, but never good or great.
