A few notes, I like your top ten, i see draft day going very similar. I think cushing is a little to high at 12, I think the Broncos can get him at 18. I am a huge fan of Gilbert also I wouldnt be surprised to see us take him at 17, but i feel his stock has peaked about the late twenties so we can trade back and get him. That said in a no-trades mock, its exactly what i would do. Reciever wise, I think Nicks' horrible pro day has dropped him to behind DHB for sure, and very likely that Britt goes before him as well. Somewhere Oher is going to go before 28, he could be a top ten pick but I expect him to go to the Skins personally. On to the Jets draft, I love Robiskie and then Greene in the third, thats like highway robbery. Brinkley is one of my favorite "late round" guys, if it wasnt for his injury he would be a first round guy, fourth round gems would continue if we got him. While i dont know much about Boone, OT is definately the position i would go in the 6th. Hate going QB in the 7th. we just drafted a late round QB last year, and we would be forced to cut one or the other, i would rather get some more depth along the lines personally. Overall I love the Jets draft, great work on them overall the mock is very solid imo, Other than Everette Brown sliding down to 13, and Oher dropping, and Cushing going a little high, its a good mock, overall a great first try!
thanks...I agree with what the stuff you said about oher dropping and cushing going too high...I'm not really sure why I did that I wasn't really thinking when i went QB in Rd7 and I don't want to have to cut a QB either...so i changed it to some NT depth
really those are the only two things i deemed "unrealistic" but my opinion, is not really what will happen on draft day. Plus I like the change to a NT, depth on those lines is huge. Also Im sure someone will point it out, you didnt draft a te, so for your next one, think about a blocking te in the 7th. But I prefer depth on the lines myself. Good Work
also I was just looking again and noticed you dont have Donald Brown in the first, if he does indeed fall out of round 1, where do you see him going?
if you have no intentions of putting him on the roster, and want a PS QB, just get a UDFA. and you already have 3 unproven QBs, so why add another? again just my opinion.
I see him going anywhere from 21-mid 2nd round..just in this particular mock I didn't have him in RD1...I do personally like him more then Beanie Wells...but I don't think he will be drafted higher than him.
624..........Very nice effort. Most of the teams drafted a player that is a big need. A few comments.....Andre Smith will be drafted in rd 1, I understand his issues, but he will be a mid Rd 1 pick. Too many mocks are omitting Sean Smith in rd 1....a team like Miami, New England or Philly with their second rd 1 pick might grab Sean Smith. I like Beatty in Rd 1 over Britton. I don't see Oher falling that far. We as Jet Fans have overvalued Jarron Gilbert, nice player, but is more likely a late Rd 1 pick or early Rd 2...to a team like ......Pittsburgh, Dallas, Miami or New England. As much as I love the NFL Draft and want the Jets to have many picks, Miles Austin would be a better choice trading the Rd 2, than Robo. I really like Robiskie, but I'd take the more NFL ready player in Austin. Here's something nobody has mentioned, Tanny can request Dallas' to give the Jets a pick & Austin, with the offer sheet..... maybe Rd 5 to the Jets in the Austin deal. Jets get Austin and a Rd 5 pick, Dallas gets the Jets' Rd 2 pick. It would make the deal alot more equitable. Brinkley will be gone by rd 4.....I'm betting someone grabs him in late rd 2 or early Rd 3 at worst. I'm not bashing your Mock, it was better than most....just some comments on my end..again...great job.
Cushing could be a monster but unfortunately, it appears as though his performances have been steroid enhanced. If we knew him to be absolutely clean, I can see him going that high. I'm with you on Gilbert but if we take him at 17, which we probably should, its going to raise a lot of eyebrows and put Rex immediately in the hot seat. I'm willing to take the chance but are Rex-Tan?
^I think they jury is still out on this. Perhaps you have better information. My research on this was that the NFL cannot know what the results were from the combine participants. That is, the results are sent only to the players themselves and are for their personal use and not shared with anyone else. If the players care to share their results, all the better but I have not heard that Cushing and Matthews have. Now, I could be wrong. Do you have evidence that they publicly shared their results?
Per rotoworld.com 1. Dr. John Lombardo, who administers the NFL's drug policy, reportedly told Brian Cushing and Clay Matthews Jr. that they have "nothing to worry about" regarding a report that they failed steroids tests at the Combine. *Lombardo added that the league already would've sent Cushing and Matthews letters about the alleged failed tests if the reports were true. The NFL sent letters to some players who tested positive three weeks ago, and Cushing and Matthews were not on the list. It appears NFL Draft Bible's report about the USC linebackers was false, which also calls into question their report that Percy Harvin and Vontae Davis tested positive for marijuana. 2. The NFL has released a statement emphasizing that none of the 32 teams or even the league office have been informed of the drug test results from the Combine. *The independent medical advisors who administer the tests have notified in writing those players and only those players who tested positive at the Combine. Unfortunately, rumors about draft eligible players ... begin to circulate every year at this time. Many of these rumors are circulated for self-serving reasons and they are terribly unfair to the players and their families.
^I agree with number 2--that is, the NFL has not been informed of the test results. So pray tell me, how does Dr. Lombardo know the results? And how would others be pegged as testing positive and receive a letter? These two scenarios seem incompatible. Also, Lombardo is right they have nothing to worry about--there is no sanction on them for taking the stuff in college.
I can't vouch for the combine tests, but as I've said around here before, I know for a FACT that Cushing was on the juice while playing for Bergen Catholic. That is first-hand information. Has he stopped since playing for Southern Cal? I have no confirmed factual information on that, but in my opinion- highly doubtful. You don't get/stay that big naturally.
Solid Top 10... I think Maybin ends up falling. I like Michael Johnson in the 1st, but not to the Texans.. With all the money tied in there and Antonio Smith aboard, it wouldn't make sense. He may end up going higher then some think (Maybe Buffalo???) I think Oher goes higher and Laurinaitis falls to the 2nd. I agree that Andre Smith will AT BEST be a bottom 1st round pick.. It's just too much of a risk investing that much money into him. Overall, very nice NFL mock. I think Robiskie is a borderline first round pick.. I really doubt he lasts near that far. I'd be OK with Shonn Greene and Brinkley.. And Khalif Mitchell is a 3-4 DE, not a NT, but still a good pick. I think we definitely go with a TE at some point. But if that was our draft, I'd be very happy even though I don't think Robiskie will be around.
god for bid we got those top 4 players id be estatic but in all honesty I dont think that will ever happen. I wouldnt even mind if we took shonn in the 2nd brinkley in the 3rd and a blocking te prospect in the 4th
Thanks, your right A.Smith will most likely still go high...just in my opinion I wouldn't invest that much money in a person that can't keep his head straight since there have been so many other talents gone to waste in the NFL these days due to stupid choices. (Vick,C.Henry,Pacman,etc..) I would like the Jets to trade back and grab Gilbert and to do that 2nd for Austin and a 5th thing you mentioned but I just decided to keep trades out of the mock. thanks again for feedback
Great mock. As a Jet fan, I'd be overly thrilled by these results. If it fell like this, i think Minn would trade up with us to get Freeman. We could still get Gilbert at 22, and use the extra ammo to trade back up in the 2nd to get Robiskie. that is only way i think we get Robiskie. same net result though. Also think a blocking TE will be a definite priority, and wouldn't discredit locking up a Punter in the 6th or 7th if they felt strongly about one. NE drafting Clay Mathews makes me want to cry. He'd be an awesome fit there, and I'll be forced to hate him. Doesn't seem like a Parcells move drafting Nicks, but you never know. They do need a possession receiver with size. Overall actually better than a lot of the draft websites I've been seeing.
