Yankees come into this series sitting at 1-2 after struggling in the first 2 games. The lineup scored some runs but struggled with RISP. The bullpen was shutdown in games 2 and 3, throwing 8 no-hit innings. Teixeira started to hit the ball well, Cano is on a tear, Swisher crushed it (5 RBI in one game), Pe?a picked up his first MLB hit, Burnett was solid, and Gardner is doing his part. Lot's of positives even though they're sitting on at 1-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game 1: Andy Pettitte vs. Sidney Ponson Game 2: Joba Chamberlain vs. Horacio Ramirez Game 3: CC Sabathia vs. Gil Meche
Anything less than a sweep would be a letdown. Because after this they go to Tampa. The pitching matchups are there...And if CC gets hit by KC then we got some issues.
Sorry, dude, but I don't think perfection is a reasonable expectation. I'm always happy just to win a series, regardless of the opponent. If they won every series of the season, they'd win (approximately) 108 games. You realize that even 100-win teams lose 62 games, right? Or that the best teams in baseball each year typically only win 60% of their games? Being let down because the Yanks didn't sweep (on the road, no less), and instead had the nerve to only won two of three is like being let down because your free ice cream cone didn't come with sprinkles on top.
This is where the depth of the rotation should start to shine, noone has a 5 starter as good as joba, and pettite is better than most 4's
Ponson is a great pitcher for ending hitting slumps. Yanks need to do to him what the Rangers did to Pavano today.
Right. And that's the problem with so many Yankee fans: irrespective of how much money the team spent, perfection is not a reasonable expectation. The very best of teams still lose several dozen games each season.
I only expect to win all three because we are the better team in all phases. It is understandible to lose and we will have our fair share like everybody, but in this series it is not out of line to expect to win all three.
Lucky not to have to face Greinke, he's coming into his own as an elite pitcher. This Royals team isn't a bunch of pushovers though, even if the 4-5 punch at the back of that rotation is sort of pitiful.
Off topic. What the fuck is that phrase supposed to mean? Coming into his own what? Hand? Jockstrap? If somebody is no good are they coming into somebody else?
its a pretty common phrase you dickhead, it means that a person or player is finally starting to live up to the potential they were thought to have all along, like a guy named mike pelfry
