My friend and I, both of whom are Giants fans, have been debating trading for Braylon Edwards. I am in favor of a 1 & 3 while he would rather do a 1 & 5 this year with a conditional pick going up to a 3rd next year. He like Reese having draft picks while I think the team has a huge need at WR and needs help their now.

If you're playing Giants GM, what do you do? If you have any other scenarios or ideas, feel free to bring them up.

And yes, I know this is a Jets forum. I just want some additional opinions on this dispute my friend & I are having.

I would offer a 1st for Braylon plus a conditional pick for the 2010 season based on production.

If I were the Giants GM I wouldn't even offer a #1 for Braylon. He's not that good of a receiver.

He's better than anyone the Giants have on the roster. I also think he can have a Plax-esque impact in that coverages will be rolled in his direction and this will open things up for the running game & allow Hixon & Smith to beat single coverage.

Everybody has an off year. Braylon in my opinion is an elite type receiver. Like I said he had an off year due to the inconsistency of the qb play in Cleavland.

example: Randy Moss-was nasty in Minn because of having a good qb. Shitty in Oakland because he had no qb. Now Nasty again but this time in NE because of a good qb.

So don't go around saying Braylon is not that good of a receiver...because you might get laughed at.

I think he's good and, unlike any WR in the draft, he has shown he can compete at the NFL level. The Giants window of opportunity is now and I think they need to act accordingly.

you trade one of your second rounders this year and another late round pick, then you have a conditional pick that is like the favre one it starts at three for low production and then goes as high as first for better production

I think I like that scenario the most. If the Browns took that I would be all over it!

Go ahead and laugh. I'll pass on the guy who has been terrible at dropping passes the last 2 of his 4 total years in the league. Last year he dropped a pass 1 time per 4 receptions. That's horrible. The year before he wasn't much better in terms of drops.

Yes he's made a probowl. Yes he's a terrific athelete. He seems to have a concentration problem or something though. I don't want a receiver on my team that drops passes at such a high rate.

Yeah this. Braylon's a gamble. Someone's going to have to get him to address his concentration issue. If he fixes that, great, but until that happens - if it even does - he isn't worth a 1st rounder.

I'd do a first and third for Braylon if I were the Giants. Your first round pick is at the end of the round, you have two third rounders with the compensatory pick, and you have two second rounders with the New Orleans pick. Who are you going to do, take Kenny Britt or Hakeem Nicks and hope they are good pros? You're a team that is built to make a run this year and you've got enough developmental receivers on your team. Go get your number 1 receiver for what is basically a third rounder since you will probably spend a first on receiver anyway.
