There was a thread about Britt in the main forum, but I figured one here wouldn't hurt.

He apparently didn't look like he had any body fat on him, and his best 40 was 4.40

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/03/new_york_jets_go_to_rutgers_pr.html

6'4" 215 lb receiver with 4.40 speed with a pretty good to great work ethic? Doubt he makes it past the Giants at pick 29.

At 17, he mite be a reach but if we took him I think we'd have a solid idea of what we're getting

Forty-one scouts from 27 NFL teams attended the Rutgers Pro Combine Tuesday at the Hale Center and Indoor Practice Bubble in Piscataway. The scouts watched 11 former Scarlet Knights from the 2008 squad take part in the combine, along with six other former Scarlet Knights from past seasons.

Among the group of 2008 Scarlet Knights were: Kenny Britt, Kevin Brock, Courtney Greene, Glen Lee, Kevin Malast, Jason McCourty, Chris Quaye, Mike Teel, Pete Tverdov, Tiquan Underwood and Jamaal Westerman. Several other former Scarlet Knights, including Pedro Sosa, William Beckford, Ron Girault and James Townsend also tested for the scouts.

There are two things that worry me about Britt in the pros: his hands and his character. From what I've heard, he's quite a primadonna and I know his hands are very consistent. The pro he actually probably best compares to may be TO.

Despite all that, he's got a lot of talent and if we draft him at #17, I'd assume any character concerns have been overblown.

If his personality grades out then he is worth the 17th pick.

This guy has enough question marks to produce a draft day fall toward the bottom of the 2nd IMO. Questionable hands and contrary to what this post says, I've seen that he has a questionable work ethic. Not to mention his overly confident attitude that makes him somewhat of a primadona... Questionable hands are what scare me the most... I think some teams will be wary of that and it could cause him to drop well into the 2nd round on draft day...

I keep reading that Britt is a prima donna. What are the facts here, is it just outrageous statements to the press or is it something on the field, like refusing to block?

Where'd you hear that? I'm not disputing it, I just never heard that before.

From what I heard (from a student manager so I guess it's not that reliable of a source) he was suspended for a game for failing a drug test. While that obviously is questionable behavior, it was the first time he was in the news for something other than a solid performance

I think the jets will get Kenny Britt. He will probably fall to the 2nd round and there will be our chance. I personally believe though that we will get cutler which means we will have to give up our 1st, 3rd, and Bryan Thomas or something like that.

Couple things: Britt was suspended for a game for weed at one point. He is very confident, but not really to the point where it's a problem. And he looked like a freaking monster at the pro day. Ran the 40 with his shirt off, can't imagine a more cut up 6-3 220 lb frame.

I seriously doubt we take Britt at 17.

I like him a lot, but taking a QB at 17 and trading up in the 2nd to grab him or Gilbert is much more realistic.

We should keep drafting qb's every year but never actually let any of them play.

Sold. Josh Freeman in the first, Pat White in the second, Rhett Bomar in the third (for depth), Graham Harrell in the fourth, and Chase Daniel in the sixth. Clemens, Ratliff Daniel and Harrell line up in the backfield with White and Smith as receivers. Freeman closes.

    Make it happen Tanny!

EDIT: Oh. read that wrong. NEVER let them play. thought playing them all at once was cooler.

    Trade for Matt Jones!

If we can trade down to like 20-25 and take Britt I'll be really happy. If we can't I think at 17 we might go for a DE. Seeing how the draft stocks are evolving I would have much preferred to get Vontae Davis at 17 and not Sheppard in FA.

Scouting report from NFLDraftcountdown.com (Scott Wright)

I read somewhere (Star-Ledger perhaps) that he will be meeting with Jets brass at some point in the near future....I think he'll impress the CS and put a lot of the immaturity issues to rest

I think he'll be a really solid special teams contributor for somebody, particularly as a gunner and maybe some return duty. His hands are way too inconsistent and he's way too weak to be a consistent wide receiver
