Yes. I regret the release of Pennington. I am still not over last seasons ending. 8-3 and blowing out Tenn in Tenn to basically losing out the rest of the season to bad bad teams.

Had Pennington been there last season definitely would have been in the playoffs and none of the AFC teams were that great frankly. The difference between 22 INTs and 7 INTs is huge. I think the Jets were a much stronger team than Miami last year and had Chad been at the helm they could've competed with any of the AFC playoff teams as long as the coaches didn't screw it up and relied on Jones and Washington more than the passing game.

I guess the defense folded but it's probably because they were demoralized watching all those INTs.

Anyway, now I am hoping Ratliff can be special, I liked the flashes I saw last preseason, but this is the Jets why would we get lucky? The only thing I liked from Clemens was the 4th quarter of that Raven game, but that's it.

Liked it at the time the move was made and the Jets were an offensive-minded team, I thought Favre had enough left in his tank to put a ton of points on the board and carry a mediocre defense.
Now that the team is being molded into a defensive ball control team, Chad would have been a good fit. But there is no looking back and no regrets about the team taking a chance with Favre.

The whole time Chad was here there was a QB predicament. After the Raider playoff game it was over. We all loved his attitude but it wasn't gonna bring a title. Maybe if he had big recievers but even then he probably would have had them killed. NO.

How can you not regret it atleast a little bit? Did you guys not watch the 2008 season? Favre ruined our team while Pennington led the Dolphins to the division title.

No regrets. I like Chad, but it was time to move on. The only thing I really regret is we didn't get any kind of pick for him. We should have gotten 4th or possibly 3rd rounder; that would have been fair.

Anyway, Ratty looked good with that pass. I would have been soooooo much more impressed if it was during a regular season game though. But, I think the door is open; Rats can win the QB job if he wants it bad enough. Plus, our running game should be better this year so we may not have to pass the ball as much. Our defense should be able to hold the opposition's score down, at least in theory, and that too should take some pressure off.

Not really. He'd still play well here I am sure, especially with the improved offensive line. But I think any one of the guys we have on staff now could do as good a job in the offense we plan on using next year, and for less money than what we were paying Chad.

I don't regret letting Chad go. I'm actually glad to see that he was met with success this season. I always liked Chad. He had a great personality and brought a passion to the game that is little seen in the era of the prima donna athletes we watch week in and week out.

That being said, I just don't think he fit with this team. He probably would've fit better with Rex's vision, but he did not fit well with the past regime.

No. Chad's a good QB but the Jets needed to move on. Chad's release more than anything may have been what set in motion the necessary turnover on this team. The Jets will ultimately be a better team eventually for having moved on.

Offering him up for a 7th round pick to Minnesota or Chicago would have been much better.

I often wonder the same thing. Why did we just outright pinkslip him?

He had to have SOME trade value to a team desperate for a QB.

The man was and is a warrior but his physcial skills were so badly damaged by all the injuries. I will always have fond memorys of Chad but those picks at the worst of times pop up also and make me realize that he was not a long term answer.

I would like to add that when Chad's playing days are over we may see him again. The man knows football and I personally believe he has all the makings of a fine coach.

If he puts in his time and applys himself at coaching as well as he has done as a player, I can see some of you younger fans saying, " yes, he a head coach now, but I remember when he was the Jets starting QB".

I belive with the completetion of the Favre trade we only had a limited number of hours to clear the cap space. So the cut had to be made. Takign time on the farve trade to work out a Chad trade would have been ideal, but sadly he was already way behind in learing the offense so that could not happen.

Foe the record, I voted no. Chad was a warrior and leader. The guy has a huge heart. Sadly its the beat up body, weak arm, and the crumbling under press that did him in as a Jet.

Those thigns did not change in Miami. There is a reason he could not win often against the Pats and the Ravens ate him alive. He simply does not possess the skils to beat an elite defense. He may have early on, but the pounding his body took has realyl taken a tool on him.

Absolutely. He perform against a team like the Ravens or Steelers as he would against the Texans. It's common sense, but the he just doesn't have the arm to get it done. Chad is a great guy, but he isn't a quarterback who will win you a Super Bowl. Case closed.

i will never regret getting rid of chad. he was a great player for us, but he is limited and does not have the ability to get a team a superbowl win. i know it will be easy to say that he would have been perfect for how this team is being built, but we still need a qb that defenses respect. unless we are going to have a defense thats as amazing as the one that managed a superbowl with dilfer at qb we still wouldn't be going anywhere with chad.

p.s. exactly how long does chad need to be gone before we move on?

retired or a Detroit Lion which is the same thing.

I moved on at the end of the 2007 season, knowing that a new direction needed to take place. When Chad and Kellen were battling it out pre-Favre, I went on record rooting for the 3rd string QB Brett Ratliff. Funny how that worked out. Now I want to draft a QB.

Chad had good years here and unhealthy bad ones. But he was never going to crack the elite status for a QB. I hope that the Jets continue there search for their next great signal caller, because they still can't find him, and now the fans are saying they want the rare perfect defense than the franchise QB.

These are scary times for this team, at least on the offensive side of the football.

Being screwed at QB now has absolutely nothing to do with releasing him last year. You worded it totally wrong. He was released to fit Favre under the cap. Where we are now has nothing to do with that.

I never crossed my mind to miss chad or regret the FO decision to let him walk. It was high time for him to get out of dodge. We were screwed with or without chad. I am just glad he didn't lead flipper to the SB last year.
