A young L. Coles would be different, but I believe that right now Stuckey is every bit as good as today's Coles. So I don't think we lost anything with that, though I like Coles and think the abuse he takes on this forum is ridiculous. I am the sole member of the Brad Smith fan club and fully expect to have some sort of I Told You So line in my signature next year, the guy has talent and thats the most important thing. Clowney is fast, at least that opens up things. I think things can work out with the receivers we have now, especially if DKNY turns into the Gonzalez type receiver he's supposed to be.
Yes! Spot on! I have been saying just how good Stucky will be. I watched him play down south for a long time. He has the skills, just needs to stay healthy. Cothery was an unknown before getting a chance. I can deal with 2 Cothery Wr's with a Monster D and good rushing attack! :metal:
Well, stupid laptop has a back button right next to the arrow button, so my long reply was deleted, but let me just say that you're not the only one in the Brad Smith club. He hasn't really been given an opportunity to be a true receiver as opposed to a trick player aside from one game in 07' where he was alongside McCareins and Wright as the #2 receiver (McCareins #1, Wright #3). I truly believe that when given the chance, he will shine. He may not be a true #1 receiver, but he isn't a player to be tossed aside.
I posted this in one of the other 6,000 WR threads, but here it is again: On the outside, we have Cotchery as our possesion guy and Clowney as our burner to stretch the field (something that is negated by having a QB with no arm). Stuckey is a prototypical slot guy who is vastly underrated and under-utilized. Keller is a proven stud of a TE. Defenses know they have to respect Leon's ability to release on a route out of the backfield. What more could a QB ask for? You can say "Clowney is unproven, blah blah blah" until you are blue in the face but the fact remains that an unproven WR is a hell of a lot less of a liability then an unproven QB. As far as I'm concerned, WR is no where near a top priority for the Jets right now - QB is by far and away our most pressing need.
I heard jason peters from the bills is unhappy with the team, he would be a great upgrade, I would expect a probowl tackle to be able to play left or right, i havent heard if anything was resolved because TO and Lynch clouded that story, anyway its just a thought, i heard he wants to be paid crazy money, but it would be a great upgrade to our line.
It really kills me that people always think players we have on this team who haven't even seen the field on a consistent basis, suck. Ratliff sucks because he only played against 2nd teamers Clemens sucks because he didn't play well in 11 or so starts. Our Wr's suck because, well i really don't know? All i've seen Stuckey do when the ball was thrown to him was catch it. All i've seen Clowney do, albiet in very limited action(no fault of his own) is make plays every time the ball was thrown his way, also. i mean, why is it that we automaticly assume a WR coming out of Rutgers or WTF State is a better option then giving guys we've drafted or picked up in the past a fair shake? Let these guys prove the suck before casting them off as yesterdays garbage. It just like the back up QB always being better then the starter. We had Pennington and most called for Clemens. Now Clemens sucks. I wish i could be hypnotized into getting off this fucking website. It's so pathetic how fickle we fans are.
I couldnt agree with you more! When we drafted Cothery, no one gave him any respect. Same thing with Coles, same thing with Penny, same thing with Leon. You Have to give these guys a chance to shine for at very least, a few games to show what they have. Mangini didnt like getting newbies into the mix, unless forced to. We are a year or two away from winning big, lets see what we "Own" for now before adressing that side of the ball. And..... by the Rex "Formula" it will be our offense that will score some points, but Won't loose the game while our defense Wins a bunch of games. I've waited 40 years for constant, year after year good damn hard hitting and winning football team. I can wait one more to see what we have drafted does and how well they stack up. Besides, next year, maybe no salary cap? Who is to say that next years FA's and Draft dont put us over the top.
why not complete the offense seems to me the jets can very easily complete this offense with a big play wr.the 6'4" 4.4 forty type.along with a STRONG running game, big play te, and an assortment of very good complimentary wr's.it's benn a while since we've had one of those around here.
