    per Rotoworld/NFL.com

Essentially....the Pats would be getting Peppers for Cassel/Vrabel. I'm hoping there isn't a lot of truth to this...otherwise...whoever our next QB will be, is going to have their work cut out playing against Mayo, Peppers & Adalius Thomas....ouch.

Why don't they just hand us the Lombardi right after that deal is made. Why waste everyone else's time.

    YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!

Shine (sp?) mentioned this on Jets Nation very briefly. I will be sick to my stomach if the trade happens.

maybe we can trade for Brady's pal Bernard Pollard...

EDIT: anyways...the only silver lining I see is that Peppers isn't a true 3-4 OLB and will need time to learn the position. Plus...his production is known to be "streaky"....

I was JUST going to post this, glad I LOOKED and saw someone already did.

This trade would be huge for NE and a DISASTER for NY. I'd love to see the Jets step in and STEAL him away from BB. I don't understand how and why teams are willing to make these trades with NE, the rich get richer as they always say.

Peppers is 29 years old, more than likely, we will have to deal with him for the next 5-7 years if he goes to NE.

I think I'm going to throw up.

The Jets don't have the cap space....nor the need for Peppers....he's a luxury that isn't even on our radar.

My concern is....that he'll be traded to a division rival.....which sucks the hind tit.

How about instead we wait till the Jets play the pats and Calvin Pace dives into Brady's knee effectively ending his season and then Leon Washington blows up Peppers

    that sounds much better

lol...I think NE fans are gonna be depressed by what they see. Pepper's is a great Pass Rushing DE. Now move him to OLB? Wait till he has to try to match up with Keller. Keller's going to make him look like he belongs in the CFL. Waste of money and a draft pick.

Well...I'm still not really sure I like the idea of this. His work ethic doesn't sound stellar and he's going to be a huge cap hit. If they can get him to agree to a small enough contract, that would be great. I don't think they will be, and the fact that this has been reported makes me think its less likely to happen.

For the record though, with Peppers this '09 team would become significantly better on paper than the one that went 18-1.

edit: Wilfork is also much more valuable the the defense than Peppers would be if he were added. I'd feel much better about this if they had used some cap space to re-sign their most important piece before going out on another spending spree.

So a healthy Brady is not as good as a fucked up knee Brady?

I'm 95% sure that Brady is fine. Otherwise they wouldn't have traded Cassel this early on. There are plenty of cases of guys that play positions requiring more mobility that suffer similar injuries, later in the year, that come back just fine.

Their offense looks to be about the same, assuming Brady is healthy. Their defense would look significantly better than the '07 one.

it's gonna be "refreshing" to see Bart Scott's cleat print on Brady's face this year.

Exactly, wonder how the transition will go?

That aside, a second rounder for such an athlete is a gamble I would take.

Hard to believe the Panthers would let him go that easily. When he is on, he is their D, much like Smith is their O. I don't see why they can't get a first rounder for him.

How are they getting him for just a second rounder? Minnesota had to pay a 1st + two 3rd round picks for Jared Allen, shouldn't Peppers be worth at least a 1st?

peppers alone should be work at least 1st and 2nd minimumn. he is a 1 man sack machine. plus if they sign him they will have to let wilfork or mankins go since both are fas after this season and would be tough to keep them both
