What the beat writer heard, was that Mike T was in LA..and asked where he could get a dirty sanchez....
I hope we don't squander our 17th pick on Sanchez. We have three QBs on the roster and one just might be a franchise QB. Sanchez's has a good arm but needs more experience. He is an accurate passer especially on the run. IMO the Jets should use the draft pick on a RB. I like Ryan?s philosophy; A great running team with an outstanding defense. The QBs in camp can win playing Northeast football. .
I could change my screen name to "Dirty Sanchez" No QBs in the early rounds, that's the kind of move you make if you are either desperate enough to blow everything up and start from scratch, or if you have an aging vet you will need to replace in another year or two. IMO, we don't fit either, and a lot of people have dismissed our current young QBs without getting the chance to see if at least one of them is a future franchise in the waiting.
Isn't Manning due for a serious injury? How long has that lucky Colts horseshoe been up his ass? Re; Sanchez. I hope he has a good private workout and slips to us. I wouldn't be surprised if Rex downplays the workout to throw other teams off the scent. Seems like it would be his style.
This made me wonder what I thought about Ryan last year, so I tried finding some Ryan threads. I don't remember having a strong opinion one way or the other but I stumbled on this post in my search: I'm not putting the screen name in because I don't want to be a dick, but this is funny to read knowing what we do now. edit: lol - answering question of whether you want Jets to take Ryan ...
Why trade Kellen? He has little to no market value and may still win the starting Job out of Camp. Take Sanchez and Keep him, Kellen and Ratliff. Throw as much talent as you can at the starting QB job and see who wins it.
Wow, nice call on Ainge. Here's a few more I dug up. And then there was this beauty: Damn, I'm good.
Because he won't be ready to lead an NFL team until Manning retires. The Jets already have more than their quota of "project" QBs
Sweet... Another young quarterback to talk about for the next three years as we bring in aging veterans, for rediculous one year contracts to fill our cap space..... Are you kidding? Stick with Ratliff or Ainge, I'm willing to go through another sub-par season to let these guys develope into studs. We need to think ahead here.
Dead on - Jets indeed took him at 5th. I don't know why he fell that far. He does seem fragile, but other than that weakness, he's a good kid to invest a few years. I'm actually a bit high on that kid. If anything, he's got the height, and better than average arm, with very good pocket awareness. Now if he can 1) fix his footwork and mechanics (he's been working on both during the 4 years at Tennessee, but still haven't hammered it down yet.) 2) bulk up 3) learn the playbook/adapt to NFL, then there we have it. a franchise QB. ------------------------------------------------------------------- On a second thought, I think Mangini did piss-poor job raising last year's draftees, including Gholston, Lowery, Marcus Henry and to a certain extent, Keller. If these kids all perform as expected, that would fill a lot of holes. So... what does Mangini do? 1. He left Gholston hanging by himself, when Vernon was learning the position for the first time. Like Rex said, you need to limit his responsibilities, so he can succeed at what he does at first - then increase his responsibilities step by step. 2. Keller was under-utilized early in the season, got in groove, then was punished for dropping a ball - and wasn't even in game late in season. What a way to bolster the confidence, idiot. 3. Same with Lowery; He's a rookie, playing opposite side of Revis, the rising star in the secondary. Again, Mangini hangs Lowery dry in the island all by himself, then pulls from the starting lineup later in the season in favor of Ty Law, of all people. Jesus Christ. 4. Jets WR corp has lots of promising players - like David Clowney and Marcus Henry. Henry never dressed for the game while Brad Smith and his ilk had their roster spot almost guaranteed. Same goes for David Clowney. 5. New England picks Matt Cassel at 7th round - and Tennessee would have grabbed Cassel as an undrafted rookie if Pats didn't snatch him. And Pats got 2nd rounder out of him this year. *And Cassel was undersold, if you didn't notice.* Do you honestly think Jets can pull the same shit with Erik Ainge? Remember, Erik was 4 year starter at Tennessee, unlike Matt Cassel, who never started for like past 7 years. I have to wonder if Mangini regime had any idea how they should raise their drafted talents. At this point, I have to wonder whether Mangini actually hit a jackpot with Revis. He doesn't seem all that talented at "raising" the drafted talents. Mangold did blossom, but D'Brick had his share of hard time, right?
