I will tell you this..... Hartwell is a Vegas guy and still does a lot of work for children here. Well the guy he had with him at his charity golf tourney was dun dun dun..... Bart Scott. He and Scott are tight, 2 guys that went to Western and Southern Illinois and around the same age and both ended up playing for Baltimore. I can't imagine the demand is high for Hartwell but he's another guy that knows he system and would come cheap.

Since we have not re-signed Bowens, another knowlegable LB is a good thing.

He's basically been out of football for two years and spent the previous two battling injuries. That's according to wiki anyway.

No harm in giving him a chance if this turns out to be true
Knows the defense so he can at least help out in camp

I'm not crazy about Hartwell, I'd rather bring Bowens back, but I trust Ryan in evaluating defensive talent and I'll stand behind the move if we choose to get him.

Hartwell was a less version Bart Scott before Bart became Bart Scott.

He was shadowed in Lewis' shadow, but a more than good player in their 3-4 scheme...He was even wanted on the Jets when he became a free agent...

Goes to Atlanta and injuries RAVAGED his career...He couldn't hurt to have on the team.

if we were having this conversation say........6 or 7 years ago this wouldve given us the best LB core in the NFL.

than Hartwell blew his knee out multiple times.

hell maybe hes one of those guys who does insane rehab for yrs and comes back at a serviceable level.

if we can get him extra cheap itd be good to have someone who can explain the system better to the starters and rotate in once in a while. (if his body is still holding up)
