This FO is taking exactly the right approach to the offseason. Make a splash initially and sign up the guys you want at the positions of greatest need, but don't rush to build depth. They're clearly not going to overpay, as evidenced by the departures of Leonhard and Royal without contracts. Ditto for letting Bowens know that they'll only re-sign him if it makes sense. I'm guessing we don't see Barton anywhere near a contract soon, then.
I guess he'd be alright for depth. I was hoping to hear some news on Barton by now even if his chances of coming back are slim to none.
I liked what Bowens brought to the table in a pinch as a depth/rotation guy, I wouldn't mind seeing him brought back in. Just not to start for any lengthy period of time.
Bowens is a very good pass rusher and it would be great to have him there as depth. I hope the Jets are able to get him to discuss something reasonable.
I rather have Jason Taylor. Just got released by the Skins. Maybe we could work out a 2 year contract.
After watching our game the other day against NE on NFL network Id rather have Mosley back. He was beastly that game.
he was a captain last year, so his lockerroom presence is great... he's pure depth and will come cheaper if he signs again.
Not sure of the validity of this: http://www.thejetsblog.com/2009/02/...sign-five-to-future-contracts/comment-page-1/
Great move if they can get him back. Not only is he an effective backup at ILB, as he showed when David Harris went down, but he can also play OLB and is a solid player on special teams. Not to mention he's a veteran with 3-4 experience..
