I don't think he'd have any type of advantage over Clemens or Ratliff. At least those two guys haven't been busts yet. Leftwich would be the wrong quarterback for this system, however, I do like the guy and wouldn't mind seeing him as a backup maybe.

I think he would be a good fit. I'm disappointed that he has drawn no interest from the Jets.. I like everything Clemons is saying and doing, but im skeptical it will translate into sucess. I know he was younger and the o line was terrible. But i thought he was down right awful when he got an opportunity to play..
Ratliff: like everyone else, I loved his performances against 3rd string guys and guys that didn't make an NFL roster, but im uncertain what he can do against quality players.
Im hoping he wins the job and is that special qb were all praying he is. but we just don't know. I really wish we had an option if all goes bad with these guys, much like we did when we brought in Testerverde.. that turned out pretty good....

Nobody has shown any interest in him, that should answer all of your questions right there.

The guy may have the slowest release of any QB to play in the NFL of all time. He winds up from his feet. Garrard chased him off the team for cryin out loud! Garrard! He's slow, takes forever to throw the ball, and cant avoid pressure.

This is as clueless as the Garcia, Boller, Simms and Orvlasky threads. Just say no to drugs.

If Chad didn't teach his lesson well yet: stay away from Marshall product.

the front office seems content on going into camp and preseason with what we have
If there is an injury at some point then they will look to sign the best guy available...last season there were several decent backup qbs available...and i imagine they once again will sit around until given the chance to start or overpaid to sit on the bench
no reason to sign anyone right away

well...if they draft a qb they wouldn't start the kid
it would take an injury to Kellen/Ratliff (maybe even Ainge)
Flacco started b/c of injury and Ryan started b/c of lack of competition

we should bring back Tui as a backup or Quincy Carter.

In all seriousness I wouldn't mind Leftwich as the #3

I would like to see the Jets sign Leftwich. He could compete and push Clemens and Ratliff for the starting job and he isnt an old QB.

Great thread mate! Keep it up. I think this thread ranks at number one out of the other 48 Leftwich threads.

I think Im gonna make a Leftwich thread too since I think Im one of the very few left who haven't made a "we should have a 'look' at Leftwich" thread.

Signing Leftwich would just push us back another year looking for our QB. If we give Clemens and Ratliff a chance this year then we at least know what we got. Then we can move forward with one of them, or move forward with a top pick because if they aren't considered a success, then we did not win many games.

There's a reason why he never made it in Jacksonville...
