I am glad to hear the man got paid. That $10 bonus is big money.

Why does that blog say "if he wins the starting job"? I assume he was brought here to be a starter immediately, not to compete with Lowery.

he will compete with whoever else we bring in (draft or FA)
I don't foresee Lowery being the competition, but rather competing for the #3 spot

really good idea. so the conditional pick is based on his performance here for this year. if we cut him, would they get nothing?

edit: after reading it a few times...it sounds like it is just 10 million in bonus' throughout the remainder of the contract...that on the other hand is ok

Man, if we get Leonhard, for the first time that I can remember all 4 positions in the secondary have talented, experienced players. I cant believe it. Can anyone remember where we had a better secondary, at least on paper?

    Revis
    Sheppard
    Rhodes
    Leonhard

it's going to be pro rated through 4 years so that's 2.5 per. So...if he stayed and lets say he reached that 39% escalator, after this year his salary could count against the cap as much as 8.13 mil per year. Ouch. Can we even afford that shit?

Doubt it. He is a zone corner.

agreed...Lowery could find himself on the block if we add a few more corners
good corner but not in man to man

Jets still need to add another CB IMO. A good Nickel back like Ivy would be a good addition.

UPDATE !!!Jets will receive 5th next year

UPDATE ON THE LITO TRADE : from Erik Boland's Blog

    * A source tells me the Jets will give up a fifth rounder in this year's draft and, if conditions are met, they'll recoup that fifth round pick in next year's draft. So if certain conditions (those I'm still not sure of specifically but are related to playing time) are met and the Jets surrender a third round pick in 2010, they get the Eagles fifth round pick in 2010. Ditto if they have to give the Eagles a fourth rounder. Basically, the Jets are pretty much assured to have the Eagles fifth round pick next year. I was also told it was "very unlikely" this could turn into the Jets giving up a second rounder.

Each player should feed off the others and really elevate thier game. Man this is incredible. It's like going to bed the night before Christmas and waiting to see whats under the tree in the morning.
Here's hoping we unwrap Leonhard, tomorrow.
