As much as I liked what I saw from Thigpen last year I don't think he's any different from what we already have.

Hey, now that Arizona has Bolden, maybe we can get Fitzgerald for a 7th Round Pick.....

We're not going to go out and get a QB -- Thigpen or anyone -- because we're going to draft Sanchez. I think that's the plan. I really don't believe that the Jets will sit pat with what we have, and I don't think there's any great options out there for us to deal for or put up money for. Sanchez is the deal. If the Jets don't work to get him, then they're fools!

If you were a rat, would you have been eaten at birth?

you know by the time the draft comes along, someone will talk about how they pulled this trade off in Madden, because Fitzgerald is rated a 99 in everything

I disagree. The Meadowlands is one of the toughest places in the NFL to play QB--if you don't have a great arm the winds will take down so many long passes (see: Pennington, Chad.) Additionally, the Jets are going to rely hugely on the running game this year and thus need a QB who can keep possession. Clemens is a big INT risk and Ratliff has never played in a freaking game.

I really do believe that the Jets need to bring in a veteran to at least compete for the job.

No but they've been studying and practicing in the same system. Cassell didn't have any regular season experience before 2008 either but he was in the same system for a couple years.

Thigpen has no experience at all in our system.

Are you crazy? The Chiefs just got Cassell and Vrabel for a 2nd and you think Thigpen is worth a 3rd? It don't work that way in the NFL.

My take is: why the hell not? Throw him into the fire with both Clemens and Ratliff and have them battle it out during training camp.

Ok now... it's Ok to bash a player, but don't insult him.

As bad as Thigpen looked, he knew how to connect to his #1 receiver, DeWayne Bowe. On the other hand, Matt Cassel just NEVER connected to Randy Moss on a long ball - especially when Moss had absolutely no defender within 10 yard radius down the field. That's pretty hard to do, you know.

Bashing Thigpen is one thing, but putting him on the level of Cassel is another. Chiefs are making a huge mistake.

It was a compliment he was the same quarterback as Matt Cassel. Thigpen has a better long ball but Cassel is more accurate.

I think you're selling what Thigpen did last year a little short. He's by no means the future, but if he can be had cheaply, he might be a decent option. I said before the more I think about it, the more I don't like it, but I wouldn't see it as a bad move for cheap.

I can't believe I'm going to reply seriously to this, but...

The Chiefs picked up Cassell for a reason. They know they can't place their future in Thigpen's hands. He was successful because the Chiefs essentially ran a college offense. He's a spread offense QB, and the spread doesn't work with any sort of consistency in the NFL. Defenders are too big and fast to build an offense for the future around a QB who won't achieve much success in a pro style offense. We have adequate backups on our team, and that's all Thigpen will be for a successful team. No need to lose a draft pick just to add to the pile.

We stand a much better chance of finding a franchise QB in Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff, and that isn't meant as an endorsement of either one being a franchise QB.
