Yes! Love all the moves so far! Its been years since we had a Defense that struck fear in another team!
Helluva Day For NYJs in Free Agency...! Mad Backer, Lito, and the return of Moore...! The Steelers' guard took less money to stay home. His pass blocking needs work. We haven't broken our bank. We got potentials with Ivy and with Leonard tomorrow. There are some less-than-marquee FA moves that Mikey is salivating on as we speak, I can feel it... Lito is a helluva man-to-man CB. Lowery is still with us and he should be better -- as a nickel, as a safety -- as another DB when we need one on the field. They're keeping Elam. Eric Smith is still here. ...and it just the first day. Lots of fun for the off season, eh? :rofl2:
I'm happy the Jets brought in a competent CB, but let's not pretend they didn't overpay. It's not a huge reach, but it's hard to believe another team would have given this much up. To be fair, we need to know the exact contingency rules for the '10 pick.
Just confirmed on ESPN. Jets will give up a 5th round pick and an conditional pick next year, depending on playing time.
According to Tim Graham, we're close to bringing Ivy in, too. We could have tremendous depth at CB in an instant.
I think this is a fantastic trade. We give up a 5th and the next pick will only be higher if he plays well. Can't complain about that.
Ehh, my roommate is an Eagles fan. He hates Lito. Personally, I am not getting very excited over this.
then congratulations your in a select group. eagles fans also would tell you McNabb is a bum. the only bad thing about lito sheppard is injury history, this guy has proven, if healthy, hes a top tier CB. point blank. a 5th and a conditional pick is nothing. seriously if he stays healthy all year chances are we have a top pass defense not to mention top overall defense. god forbid asante samuel or sheldon brown go down, gee whod look like winners in the trade then? exactly.
What is Sheppard's current contract? Anybody know? And I guess Ivy would be brought in as a nickle back and STer, right? Well I found his contract. We are off the hook on the bonus part, that's Philly's. Lito Sheppard-Sheppard signed an 8 year, $26,314,000 deal during the 2004 season that included an 8.7 mil signing bonus prorated over 6 years. As part of his rookie deal, he received a 3.4 mil signing bonus prorated over 5 years. His cap numbers are as follows: 2004: $2,610,750 (480.75K base salary+680K proration+1.45 mil proration) 2005: $2,661,000 (531K basae salary+680K proration+1.45 mil proration; $8,610,000 dead money if cut) 2006: $2,742,250 (612,250 base+680K pro.+1.45 mil proration; $6,480,000 dead money if cut) 2007: $2,450,000 (1 mil base salary+1.45 mil proration; $4,350,000 dead money if cut) 2008: $3,450,000 (2 mil base salary+1.45 mil proration; $2,900,000 dead money if cut) 2009: $4,450,000 (3 mil base salary+1.45 mil proration; $1,450,000 dead money if cut) 2010: $3,700,000 (base salary) 2011: $4,250,000 (base salary)
if you're going to be an ass hole at least be creative about it and not post the same shit back to back.
